So requiring that voters demonstrate they are voters is suppressing who's vote?BraveAI wrote:The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act is a bill that would require all Americans to prove their citizenship with documentation when registering to vote or updating their voter registration information. Specifically, the bill would mandate that individuals provide documentary proof of U.S. citizenship, such as a passport or birth certificate, when registering to vote in federal elections. Under the SAVE Act, states would be prohibited from accepting and processing voter registration applications unless the applicant presents such documentation. Additionally, the bill would require states to establish alternative processes for applicants to submit other evidence to demonstrate their citizenship status
My state requires a birth certificate for any new voters. Some sort of other thing for us foreigners, passport will do. I had to get my driver's license renewed and it showed the voting status too. Nothing new asked for ID. But the state does go out of their way to send all Nebraskans a birth certificate for free. Encourages the younger voters. ID not required at polling place.Sean Hayden wrote: ↑Thu Apr 10, 2025 4:35 pmWait, are you under the impression that they don’t know who is a citizen? Christ that would be crazy! Me, I just signed up with an address, birth date and ss number.
If they can’t verify me with that it’s their problem, not mine.
Really, now that I think about it I can’t imagine a single good reason to require anything else, except as a means to stop people voting.
