I knew that, so I've never said otherwise.Elessarina wrote:Also.. you owe him another.. he's be running a foundation for years for innoculations of children in third world countries

The reason I posted this thread is that the UK government announced yesterday that they are doubling their contribution of £80 million for family planning in the third world to £160 million, and they are doing it in conjunction with the Gates Foundation. That is serious money, and deserves to be applauded.

Three apologies - unlike the OP he recognizes reality on AGW and the associated risks.

If he was serious he'd use his pivotal role at microsoft to derail the US economy.

For any conscientious one but that would be a contradiction in terms. I've not read hardly anything about him, and I made that clear in my first post.
I've read LOTS about global warming.
But I don't assume anything about global warming. That's the difference between me and you.
You believe everything you read, so long as it says that man makes the world hot.
I say that nothing's been proved whatsoever, except that the world has warmed about one degree since 1900. That sort of thing happens all the time, and the only thing that indicates it's due to man's activity is a bunch of computer models, which have been massaged until they point to that.
Anyway, you must be going for the derail record. Do you post this crap on other threads because everybody is ignoring your bullshit when you post it where it belongs?

Yeah when you get a self-serving bitch like Gina Rinehart who have more money that they know what to do with want more of it and don't care about what bodies end up on the side of the road because of it then it kinda makes you think bill gates isn't such a bad bloke and at least he isnt a frothing at the mouth right-winger like Gina Rinehart.

Bill may be an atheist (I have no way of knowing) but Melinda is Catholic and at odds with her church on birth control.
Quote from Forbes magazine
Quote from Forbes magazine
- Gates, a longtime advocate for women’s health issues has been vocal in her support of contraceptive resources for women despite her Catholic beliefs; in an interview that aired on CNN on Sunday, she said it had become her lifetime’s work. Her Gates foundation has long refused to fund programs that support abortion. “I had to wrestle with which pieces of religion do I use and believe in my life, what would I counsel my daughters to do,” she explained to Newsweek of her decision to support other contraceptive methods. Additionally she feels that “we’re not serving the other piece of the Catholic mission, which is social justice” by barring women from birth control alternatives.

Re: Bill Gates : An apology
He made his money selling crap software so it stands to reason he's a guilty conscience and wants to do a bit of good with his ill gotten gains. I'd question whether his fascination with curbing third world population growth is altogether the act of a healthy worldview, and altruistic myself.

As a student I held myself in diametric opposition to all things Microsoft and burned Bill Gates in effigy each full moon. Now that I'm older I think he's not such an evil person - i.e. my frame of reference has widened considerably.
