England lost to France. On penalties. It's just the same as the men's game.
The US beat France and Brazil and are in the World Cup Finals.

Hey - men don't care about women's soccer - well, I do, but none of the other sexist men do.

Can't discount an underdog.

Japan's triumphant women's football team returned home Tuesday with the World Cup trophy.
Looks like the underdog took it.

Nothing to do with sexism. Until recently, women's soccer has not been of a standard to hold people's interest.

However, the standard has recently become far better - and this should deliver more TV coverage, which should help build public interest.

However, people are still free to remain disinterested in women's soccer, and this disinterest need have nothing to do with sexism whatsoever.

I'm not a big fan of tennis, but I far prefer women's tennis to men's tennis. I find that women's tennis is a bit more competitive, there are more rallies, and therefore it makes more interesting viewing. The chance to see Navratilova play - even if it is in doubles or on a senior competition is excellent. Am I sexist because I prefer women's tennis to men's tennis?

The men's world cup involves players from the men's football leagues, which are far bigger and better than women's leagues, even though the international teams may have good players. Spain in the world cup was basically FC Barcelona, for example, and everyone wanted to see if Messi could get Argentina somewhere.

Come on, put any top class women's international team against, say, the Germans. They'd be slaughtered. It's not sexism, it's simple interest.

Quite well, I'm afraid, until Scott Brown decides to break their legs.

This is me just making a wee start on catching up. It may take me a year or two, so please bear with me.

The Women's World Cup was fab again. They always are. And it's right to say they don't get enough publicity. In the top women's game, as compared to the men's, there's less emphasis on physique and muscle, and therefore more on skill; there's less money and so there's much less diving and petulance; and when you get close-ups there are fabulous-looking young women. Mmmmm.
Pray, do not mock me: I am a very foolish fond old man; And, to deal plainly, I fear I am not in my perfect mind.

Blah blah blah blah blah!

Memo to self: no Lir chocolates.

Life is glorious.
