Gaddafi was speaking on state TV via phone not appearing in person as he has been doing during the last five months.
During the speech, Gaddafi said he was in Tripoli citing more than once the exact time as he spoke saying that his speech was live and not recorded.
Gaddafi said he would continue to fight and called his supporters to fight back the rebels in millions instead of small groups.

Mayhaps it can change. My gut tells me that all this fighting is not a flowering, but a pulling out of some of the more noxious weeds. With operation “Dawn of the Sea Pride”, the freeing of Tripoli and therefore the whole of Libya from the Al Qathafi regime ongoing and on the way to succeeding, the beleaguered Libyan leader, pressed as he is from all sides, has urged his supporters, half-heartedly, many believe, to "march by the millions" and to quash the six months-long uprising that has turned full circle in favour of the rebels.
Strong explosions rocked Tripoli amid fighting between rebels and regime supporters early Sunday morning, with blasts from NATO air strikes heard in the heart of the Libyan capital as early as 4.00 a.m. (CET). Warplanes flew overhead, targeting once again Al Qathafi's residential compound at Ban Al-Azziziyah and other, at the time, identifiable sites.
There was sustained gunfire in the city and clashes in several quarters have been reported between insurgents and Al Qathafi forces, among them some of his supporters whom he armed to try and help him to hold on to power, which he has done for almost 42 years.
The rebels didn't achieve this alone, there are 150 tribes in Libya making internal cohesive action somewhat unlikely. There must be 'boots on the ground, death squads taking out key personal and spreading chaos + fear in the organised manner only a outside non-tribal military force could IMO. If it happens as quickly as it is happening, chances are that we can be optimistic, that it can go without big backlash/revenge actions.
