Suggest its time to arrest anyone who uses the word marxist to try to describe anyone else who doesnt call themselves that as well (There are Marxist/Socialist parties that normally have names similar to Communist or Socialist party). Going around calling everyone marxists is a very good clue to being a potential sociopath , if they are armed its probably evidence enough to put them in jail for a very long time.

Extreme websites and forums attract a certain mindset. There are several I wonder about here, and this is quite a nice site. I wonder about myself, and anyone with a complex evolving view of the world is aware of the cul de sacs such explorations can fall into. This crazy murderous guy but for a chance conversation may have been a welcome and friendly member here. It is upto all those with worries to redirect or challenge with progressive alternatives those negative views encountered along the path of life. We can make a judgment after an event but with no time travel technology that's no use whatsoever I'm afraid. Change is possible, radical change, on the day before but no amount of upset will change a thing the day after. So let's try to learn and become willing risk takers in the changing of 'dangerous' peoples mindsets, whether they be religous or atheist or whatever?

Only by ridicule I'm afraid. I can't be arsed to argue the toss with the likes of Seth, Sandinista and Gawd. Life, as evidenced this last day or two in so many ways, is far too short.

Dries, don't be hard on yourself. We all react in our own ways and our reactions develop according to each person's internal "rhythm". There sure as hell isn't any "right" way to react to a tragedy. For example, I've purposely kept completely away from this news until tonight, to be able to function (we moved from the summer cottage home today, and I knew I needed my sleep). I've kept myself distanced and aloof, and refused to listen to MiM. I'm glad he could accommodate my needs, yet I do feel a kind of guilt, too, however much I tell myself that that is irrational.

Doubt he's legally insane. He's been planning this for years, wrote a 1200 page log and manifesto, fully detailing how he was preparing, why he was doing it and who he had conferred with... apparently there are more "cells" that been in touch with him and who are of his convictions, at least to a certain degree. His English and Norwegian is impeccable in what I've read, and he seems to know political history quite well, even if he's GROSSLY distorted in his views of what the state of the nation and the world is at this point.

He's been clear that it's about the threat to our culture and nation, how Islam is being welcomed in by the Marxist-friendly politicians and papers in Norway (fuck knows how he figures Marxism enters into it).

21 years doesn't seem enough... I hope we utilise the option of extending it as he nears release... All the way until he's drawn his last breath. He's abused his freedom in a way that's more atrocious than anything that's ever happened outside of war time in Norway.

And Ronja, thanks for the hug I don't blame you keeping away. Getting bogged down in this and reading into this guy's mind I've felt more like I've been observing some over-the-top Norwegian attempt at an action film where the bad guy completely wins.
