I thought Coito's stuff was really funny. Best part of this thread so far.

The sad, painful truth about the rioters’ true identities
even though admitting, for the most part, that, indeed, the riots were caused by young hockey fans, the mainstream media still has to add in some bullshit to lighten the load:
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/nat ... le2066321/While police and politicians continue to lay the blame for this week’s Stanley Cup riot in Vancouver on professional anarchists and hardened thugs with deep-seated criminal tendencies, the blogosphere and social networks such as Facebook have been revealing a much more uncomfortable truth.
Many of those who participated in the riot were not these types of people at all. They were, in many instances, the sons and daughters of good, upstanding citizens who today must still be in shock over what they’ve learned.
even though admitting, for the most part, that, indeed, the riots were caused by young hockey fans, the mainstream media still has to add in some bullshit to lighten the load:
"losers"?? fuck. Talk about editorializing! The losers are the hockey fans, true canadian youth, and that's about it.While it certainly seems plausible, and maybe even likely, that Wednesday’s riot may have been incited by a small group of insurgents expert at taking advantage of potentially violent situations, it’s impossible to say exactly how much of the damage was caused by these small-time hoods and losers. That is, as opposed to that larger and amorphous group of mostly male twenty-somethings (and younger in many cases) with too much booze in their systems and carrying a repressed need to display their masculine identity.

Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.

Re: Canada RIOTS!
This is historic, revolution is a middle class enterprise, whilst blowback falls via the media onto the lower rungs. What is novel here, and was apparent albeit overlooked inthe UK student riots, is that the traditional media inspired blame game has failed at the first hurdle through new technology. This is going to put a rat cornered kind of pressure on the radical elements within the middle class to see any revolution through, as austerity in the post-dollar world kicks through nation after nation.Robert_S wrote:Don't feel too bad Sandi, we got 'em down here too.

These aren't revolutionaries. These are spoiled little solipsistic shits who are not fit for any job of consequence.

NOT revolutionaries in any sense. Rioting because of booze/hockey/fun....and also, perhaps, the craving for fame, some kind of internet fame. Being a "part of history".Crumple wrote:I know their Canadian but let's just look beyond that for a moment?Robert_S wrote:These aren't revolutionaries. Odd coincidence: IIRC, all the masterminds behind the 9-11 attacks were of the privileged classes too.sandinista wrote:NOT revolutionaries in any sense. Re: Canada RIOTS!
It was the nascent revolutionary spirit - they've been infected with the meme from the international media. Canadians have not yet had the cognitive shock of the coming global socio0economic collapse; so they invneted a post-modern excuse to express the urge to destroy the old order.sandinista wrote:NOT revolutionaries in any sense. Being one of 'em in the past - and no true, false, undocumented or any other kind of Scotsman - your assertion is too sweeping at the very least (ya get points for the reply, though - I lol'd a bit :-)Robert_S wrote:Actually, those are undocumented Scotsmen.BrettA wrote:Wait a minute here... there's a whack of true canadian youth who couldn't give a shit about hockey - and there always has been.sandinista wrote:average, typical, spoiled young hockey fans.
