Won't be surprised at more property losses, but I hope people's awareness is better, and we have no more loss of life...
Your weather forecast sounds terrible Jim; I've been looking at it on the web today.JimC wrote:Tomorrow is forecast to have hot northerly winds of up to 100 km/hr across Victoria, which have a fair chance of fanning those damn fires back to life. Hundreds of schools are closed (not mine, though...), and people are on high alert.

All the best for tomorrow Gabriel.GabrielJBuckley wrote:Digging in and readying the defences again. Hopefully they'll remain unused.
I think so far the prospect of having to tangle with me has kept the fire picking on soft targets.
No soft targets, just a large number of very unfortunate people.GabrielJBuckley wrote:I think so far the prospect of having to tangle with me has kept the fire picking on soft targets.
Cheers, I don't know what they're playing at really. This is the third time now we've had dire warnings about atrocious fire conditions since the day when we did have atrocious fire conditions, and the third time that the weather bureau has completely overplayed the severity of the conditions. I'm sure they're overestimating simply because they will be the ones who ultimately get kicked if they get it wrong in the other direction. Much better for them to say it will be hot and windy and have it turn out to be mild and calm, than say it will be mild and calm and have it end up being hot and windy.soul_biscuit wrote:May circumstances favor all of you. Not really, I'm sure there is some sort of pragmatic middle ground between indifference and scaremongering... something along the lines of providing factual information in a timely manner maybe.Charlou wrote:"WOLF!!! WOLF!!!"
Damned if they do, damned if they don't, really.
The morning was much less windy than I thought it would be, but during the last few hours it has been very windy in the eastern suburbs. Won't be sure about the fire news till after the news tonight - I'll post here later when I have more info.GabrielJBuckley wrote:Not really, I'm sure there is some sort of pragmatic middle ground between indifference and scaremongering... something along the lines of providing factual information in a timely manner maybe.Charlou wrote:"WOLF!!!
