Well, I would reply straight away with "why do you feel it is important to ban such discussions at RatSkep?".starr wrote:Sex can be discussed here at Rationalia in a multitude of ways ranging from intellectual ponderings to absolute depravity. Why do some of you feel it is so important to be able to hold similar discussions at rationalskepticism?
I admit that my Semen thread was mischievous, and I will allow that the majority of members don't want to go down the seriously "depraved" route or even have a NSFW sub forum, but a ban on any sexual discussion outside of the purely scientific seems a bit harsh.
As I said in the OP here, I reckon that it's just a temporary thing while the forum is established - perhaps I was a bit quick to bring the subject up and I apologise if anyone is upset, but I have seen how a small number of staff on a forum can determine the ethos and vibe of a forum for hundreds if not thousands of future members by imposing their own values very early on (not necessarily in a malign way - they may feel they are representing the whole community) - was it such a massively troublesome thing for me to have raised a serious point about the future direction of Ratskep, an online community which I belong to as much as anyone?

I think the sex question is quite an important one given its history in our community as a whole (RDF, TAF, Rationalia) - I certainly don't think that discussion about it should be shut down, or threads locked prematurely.
