I agree with the sentiment, but I disagree with your implication that adults aren't bitchy. If anything, they've just had more practice.
Bitchy forum hug!!!!!!
I loves me some bitchy members... wait. That didn't come out right.
(
didn't go in right, either.
)
I was trying to think of a more appropriate phrase than 'grown up'... but I gave up.

I too have noticed how strict the moderators are on RD.net. A while ago I posted
this OP on the general discussion thread asking members what their sexual orientation was. It was promptly locked because discussing sexual desires and issues is against the rules. Randy Ping, the moderator who locked it, was very generous and didn't issue me a warning because I am relatively new. However, I don't see why even us enlightened ones need be so sensitive to this sort of thing. It wasn't as if the question was vulgar and inappropriate.

Foxy, the RDF staff are somewhat restricted by the guidelines regarding sexual content, but I get the impression they err on the side of over rigid ... erm ... over enthusiastic ... enforcement of it. A few of us have tried to discuss relaxing the guideline to a more human and therefore sensible level, so far to no avail.

The thing is prostitution may be illegal where RD.net's servers are, but discussion about it certainly isn't. In fact, where RD.net's servers are, free speech is highly prized and avidly 'protected'.
No, I think RD.net is pandering to the extreme end of conservatism for no other reason than those running the show feel more comfortable that way.

Trust me, they never will while Mr. Prins is there...

Well. I just got banned for eternity from Richard Dawkins Forum today. I think I did lose the head at some pro-Israeli posters on there a long time ago who were throwing around the anti-semitic charge at ANYTHING uncomplimentary about Israels policies, but, I re-registered using other pseudonyms to post on there and received an email to day titled "Sockpuppets and legal action".
In other words, the swagger sticks were put away and legal threats were coming. Of course, I've no idea which moderator has it in for me and while it's tempting to take the legal threat up, for the sheer fun of seeing their legal letter charging me of being a "sockpuppet" I thought it best to let it slide. A pity, as I used to enjoy some of the discussions on there..despite the jackboot moderation.
Then I thought, hmmm...I haven't done anything that bad (nothing racist or ott abuse, trolling etc)...I wonder if there are more ex-rd forum people out there...googled a bit and found rationalia.com.
So here I am people. Thank you google.
I know Richard is probably completely unaware of the jackbooted nature of his board moderators....but someone really needs to tell him.
Anyway..hope to enjoy some good discussions on here.

Until they draw up a constitution they don't have right to hand out 'rights'.
This is the forum's constitution, and it says therein that the people running it can do whatever they fucking want. There are two options to change those rules. You can convince the head of the RDFRS, presumably Richard Dawkins and/or a board of directors, of the errors of their ways, or you can take RDFRS over yourself, somehow. The former will turn him into a benign dictator. The latter will turn you into a benign dictator. As long as the foundation is privately owned, it will never ultimately become a democracy.
I ..feel... history...repeating....itself...

We have an appropriate thread for greeting new members.

"The fact is that far more crime and child abuse has been committed by zealots in the name of God, Jesus and Mohammed than has ever been committed in the name of Satan. Many people don't like that statement but few can argue with it."
