Re: All Things Canada Eh
I think in Trump's fantasy Canadians will be like Puerto Ricans--they won't get a vote in the presidential election nor will they get representation in Congress.

He's thinking Rushmore, baby! Double the size of the country and Rushmore's a lock!
Or, he could just be trolling.

Yes, the left tend to be violent when encountering political disagreement in person.
A Canadian presenter, guy called 'Billboard Chris', was just doing an interview, and said that among the violent left, who he has had many encounters with, the most violent encounters were in Canada. (he spends a lot of time in the US, too)

Not 'kool-aid', just a guy who billboards regularly, commenting on his experiences.
As to the left being the violent side, you DO remember the 'Summer of Love', don't you? That wasn't republicans rioting and burning lol
Or should I just read your last line to get your gist?

If there's one thing Canadians universally agree on it's that they hate being mistaken for Americans. I just can't see the entire nation being inspired, convinced, cajoled, or coerced into self-identifying as American.Joe wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 12:18 amI can believe that. Annexation will never happen. Trump may not have thought it through, but you know Thune and Johnson have done the math and know that Canada as a state would politically be another California, having a huge impact on the Electoral College. Since Congress admits new states, that's not happening.

we in general, and those who dwell in the country in particular, have MANY reasons to be irate at rump and his pals and his government, we should start by cutting all exportations of power, potatoes and porn to the US

except we won't be a 'territory', if we accept to come under the US umbrella, it will be statehood, maybe even like 12 or 15 statehoods, or nothingL'Emmerdeur wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 2:14 amI think in Trump's fantasy Canadians will be like Puerto Ricans--they won't get a vote in the presidential election nor will they get representation in Congress.![]()

Stop prevaricating. Do you, personally, want Canada to become the 51st state of the USA?Cunt wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 5:05 amYes, the left tend to be violent when encountering political disagreement in person.

Yeah, and admitting the provinces, and maybe the territories as states makes a whole lot more sense from an administrative point of view. A single state the size of the rest of the country doesn't sound workable.Svartalf wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 7:11 amexcept we won't be a 'territory', if we accept to come under the US umbrella, it will be statehood, maybe even like 12 or 15 statehoods, or nothingL'Emmerdeur wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 2:14 amI think in Trump's fantasy Canadians will be like Puerto Ricans--they won't get a vote in the presidential election nor will they get representation in Congress.![]()
Of course, that would mean the end of the Republican party as we know it. Nonetheless, Canada should stay Canada.

That's a fact and I don't blame them. They have their own culture and national pride, and frankly they do a lot of things better than the US does.Brian Peacock wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 6:17 amIf there's one thing Canadians universally agree on it's that they hate being mistaken for Americans. Heck, they were able to figure out the metric system and we didn't.

Re: All Things Canada Eh
well, from a US point of view, the whole of Canada has the population of a single state, plus many Merkins are ign'ant enough not to understand that Canada is a federation of its own.Joe wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 12:55 pmYeah, and admitting the provinces, and maybe the territories as states makes a whole lot more sense from an administrative point of view. But yeah, the likelihood of Canada ever accepting to join the southern neighbour is about as great as that of frump admitting to all his crimes, resigning from the presidency, and taking musk with him for an unlimited stay in Gitmo.
