I have no idea. I just hoped to point out that a lot of emotions going into these things are driven by predictions to extremes that don’t ultimately reflect the reality of the situation.

Yeah. If you're running a TV news room you probably start the day by looking at the papers, noting what's been broadcast in the last twelve hours, and seeing what's trending on the socials. So even if you think the Biden age drama is bullshit you probably have to buy into the narrative anyway - even to debunk it. This is how the story keeps going around and around.

Biden was 'too old' for office 4 years ago, when he was a year younger then than Trump is now. What the right-leaning media are really doing is pushing a narrative about Trump as a potent, dynamic, man of vigour - specifically in comparison to Biden. It's Trump's team's way of saying that the fat guy might not have a genius level intellect, or possess astute political acumen, or have a lifetime's career of political experience, or be a competent leader, or even be particularly honest, but at least he ain't a dropling dumdum like Biden. After all, it's a tactic that got a lot of traction against "that evil woman" in 2016 didn't it?

The electoral college, which we have because of slavery, still keeps changing. The small states get extra electors, the rest is by population:

To say that Harris assiduously avoided any mention of recent questions about Biden’s fitness for office would be an overstatement, and Wanga did not ask or seemingly make room for the issue gripping much of Washington. In the past week, the fallout of the president’s shaky debate performance on 27 June has manifested in calls for him to drop out of the race, with a handful of Democratic lawmakers joining the chorus. Many of those same critics are now hoping Harris might be the new nominee in November.

And if Biden decides not to run, Hawaii Gov. Josh Green told The Associated Press on Saturday that he believes the president will designate Vice President Kamala Harris to replace him on the ticket.

“I think the president stays in this race unless he feels that it is not winnable, or he feels that he has to hear other voices in his inner circle that he shouldn’t run,” Green said. “If the president felt that he wasn’t up to it and truly not up to it, he would step down.

“We’ll probably know in the next couple of days how the president feels about all this,” he said.
Green said the timeline of a few days for a decision anticipates pressure that might be placed on Biden after members of Congress return this week to Capitol Hill.
