I have no idea. I just hoped to point out that a lot of emotions going into these things are driven by predictions to extremes that don’t ultimately reflect the reality of the situation.

We’re talking world leaders —lol— and the media losing their shit —seriously, whatcha smokin’!?

Trump always had a chance, and Biden isn’t losing.

Ummm Raetsu why are you showing 2015 rankings for Barack instead of current 2024. Even then he was in the top 20.

Why do you think I was showing that?

I have no fucking idea..if you have a point state it.
My take is over time, Obama has risen in the ranks of scholars and in my view deservedly so.
I recall seeing him as a Senator and blown away by his speech to the national Dems.
"who the hell was that????" I clearly remember saying

He's a very good orator... :coffee:

Everyone’s better than Biden in that regard, everyone except Trump. Of course an important distinction is that Trump has never even pretended to give a damn about his intellectual life, he’s always just been this guy.

But yeah, Biden’s decline is what’s scary —keep selling your shit, soulless hacks and wimps.

Yeah. If you're running a TV news room you probably start the day by looking at the papers, noting what's been broadcast in the last twelve hours, and seeing what's trending on the socials. So even if you think the Biden age drama is bullshit you probably have to buy into the narrative anyway - even to debunk it. This is how the story keeps going around and around.

Biden was 'too old' for office 4 years ago, when he was a year younger then than Trump is now. What the right-leaning media are really doing is pushing a narrative about Trump as a potent, dynamic, man of vigour - specifically in comparison to Biden. It's Trump's team's way of saying that the fat guy might not have a genius level intellect, or possess astute political acumen, or have a lifetime's career of political experience, or be a competent leader, or even be particularly honest, but at least he ain't a dropling dumdum like Biden. After all, it's a tactic that got a lot of traction against "that evil woman" in 2016 didn't it?

This is problematic. They have been pretty even. I don't think Biden will ever get ahead in polls. Whatever they mean.

Trump can get 3 million more votes and come second, then Biden can claim he won by the biggest margin since Reagan.

The electoral college, which we have because of slavery, still keeps changing. The small states get extra electors, the rest is by population:

For what it’s worth, the Electoral College has shifted by a very tiny margin towards the Republicans in 2024, compared to 2020, due to Census redistricting.

Safe red or red-leaning states: Texas gained 2, Montana gained 1, Florida gained 1, and North Carolina gained 1. Ohio and West Virginia each lost 1. Net gain of 3 electoral votes.

Safe blue or blue-leaning states: California, Illinois and New York each lost 1, Oregon gained 1, Colorado gained 1. Net loss of 1 electoral vote.

Swing states: Michigan and Pennsylvania each lost 1.

VP finally put to work?
While the president insists he will remain in the election race, his deputy’s poll numbers have improved and her speeches have become more assertive

In what was billed as an on-stage conversation with Essence CEO Caroline Wanga, Harris confidently offered a blend of standard campaign-season talk – a recitation of the Biden-Harris administration’s major policy accomplishments with dire warnings about the dangers posed by a possible second Trump term and the critical importance of the choice that voters will face in just 122 days – blended with the language of women’s empowerment.

To say that Harris assiduously avoided any mention of recent questions about Biden’s fitness for office would be an overstatement, and Wanga did not ask or seemingly make room for the issue gripping much of Washington. In the past week, the fallout of the president’s shaky debate performance on 27 June has manifested in calls for him to drop out of the race, with a handful of Democratic lawmakers joining the chorus. Many of those same critics are now hoping Harris might be the new nominee in November.

She’s been working, but as usual the right’s narrative is the dominant one. —freakin’ dei hire!

BTW who are the democrat lawmakers so I can donate to their opponents?

Governors mostly backing Biden. Not this one:
Hawaii governor says Biden could decide within days whether to remain in the presidential race

And if Biden decides not to run, Hawaii Gov. Josh Green told The Associated Press on Saturday that he believes the president will designate Vice President Kamala Harris to replace him on the ticket.

“I think the president stays in this race unless he feels that it is not winnable, or he feels that he has to hear other voices in his inner circle that he shouldn’t run,” Green said. “If the president felt that he wasn’t up to it and truly not up to it, he would step down.

“We’ll probably know in the next couple of days how the president feels about all this,” he said.
Green said the timeline of a few days for a decision anticipates pressure that might be placed on Biden after members of Congress return this week to Capitol Hill.
