to mention just a few. To one degree or another all of them included scenes that could be at best described as "sympathetic inventions" and all of them left out major portions of the subjects the movies were depicting. None of them sacrificed verisimilitude for the sake of popular appeal.

After the opening fight scenes in an action movie the hero never spends the rest of the film with two black eyes, a broken wrist, a limp, or complaining about persistent back pain etc.

The only reason to go to the loo is to have a cry or to read secret documents.

To my surprise I quite enjoyed watching Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (1995). On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a low approval rating of 25% based on 28 reviews, with an average rating of 4.2/10. The site's critical consensus reads, "Nature Calls in this Ace Ventura sequel, and it's answered by the law of diminishing returns." I thought it was actually better than the movie that preceded it.
