Re: The Coronavirus Thread
"Another" reason?
It's simply this:

Unfortunately, the actually existing Pfizer's and Astra/Seneca's vaccines are hard to come by in Australia because of our incompetent and uncaring show pony of a Prime Minister.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
As Hermit said, it's not a low uptake (the latest poll shows that only 7% will definitely refuse a vaccine) but poor vaccine procurement decisions early on by our incompetent federal government. Supplies are now building, and we should reach 75% or so in November.Cunt wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 5:54 amHow did Trump's 'warp speed' vaccine do in Aus?JimC wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 11:29 pmIt remains a fact that vaccine uptake is dramatically down (by comparison) in US states and counties that voted for Trump. The Janssen COVID-19 vaccine or Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine is a COVID-19 vaccine that was developed by Janssen Vaccines in Leiden, Netherlands, and its Belgian parent company Janssen Pharmaceuticals, subsidiary of American company Johnson & Johnson. It is a viral vector vaccine based on a human adenovirus that has been modified to contain the gene for making the spike protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19. The body's immune system responds to this spike protein to produce antibodies. The vaccine requires only one dose and does not need to be stored frozen. Clinical trials for the vaccine were started in June 2020, with Phase III involving around 43,000 people. On 29 January 2021, Janssen announced that 28 days after a completed vaccination, the vaccine was 66% effective in a one-dose regimen in preventing symptomatic COVID-19, with an 85% efficacy in preventing severe COVID-19, and 100% efficacy in preventing hospitalization or death caused by the disease.Wikipedia

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
90% of the Dutch population is willing to be vaccinated.
Vaccination turnout in the Netherlands rises to 90 percent
Vaccination turnout in the Netherlands rises to 90 percent
Which is why mandatory vaccinations are not required here.According to data from the government’s coronadashboard, the proportion of the Dutch population aged 16 and above that is willing to receive the coronavirus vaccine has risen to 90 percent.
Vaccination readiness amongst Dutch population
The figures for July 13 to July 19 show that so-called vaccination readiness in the Netherlands has risen to 90 percent for the first time since records began. Since September 2020, vaccination readiness amongst all age groups has been steadily rising, and when vaccinations began in January the Dutch government predicted an overall turnout of 85 percent.
The most recent data was gathered via a survey conducted between June 13 and July 19 shows a notable increase in the number of young people (aged 16 to 24) who want to be vaccinated. At the start of June, “only” 76 percent of young adults were willing to be vaccinated. This figure has now risen to 81 percent. The vaccination willingness of other age groups has been relatively stable since the start of June.
This data is significant to the government’s vaccination drive, as everyone aged 12 and above has now been invited to be vaccinated. The National Institute for Public Health and Environment (RIVM) believes a successful vaccination campaign amongst young people could play a significant role in preventing a fourth coronavirus wave in the autumn.
The Netherlands has one of the highest vaccination rates in Europe
So far, over 20 million vaccinations have taken place in the Netherlands. As of July 18, almost eight million people are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, while another four million are partially vaccinated. Health Minister Hugo de Jonge aims to have everyone fully vaccinated by September 1.
The Netherlands continues to have one of the highest vaccination rates in Europe. According to data from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), 84,3 percent of the population has received at least one jab, giving the Netherlands the third-highest uptake rate in the EU. Iceland is in the lead with 90,7 percent.

Probably doesn't harmonise with his biases. Or he missed it when we mentioned it three weeks ago. I'll just roll that scatterplot out again to see if our member from Yellowknife makes a (hopefully relevant) comment this time around.JimC wrote: ↑Sat Aug 14, 2021 7:05 amAs Hermit said, it's not a low uptake (the latest poll shows that only 7% will definitely refuse a vaccine) but poor vaccine procurement decisions early on by our incompetent federal government.
