Yes, and privilege and 'advantage' are synonyms here.

You still don't understand the meaning of "privilege". Advantage is a fairly neutral word, it can be gained through both ethical and non-ethical means. Privilege is best used in this context, for example:

"The children of wealthy people possess considerable privilege at the start of their journey through life, especially in the form of easy access to education. This privilege is their's without any necessity to earn it via hard work etc."

I don't see the difference, whether wealthy or poor, being born into a 2-parent family is a HUGE privilege. One great example is that most born to such privilege, are loathe to admit it.

Have you even read what Hermit and I have posted? Do you understand that words have meaning?

If you changed privilege to advantage in your first sentence, you would be closer to the mark. Not sure about the HUGE, given how determined some single mums or dads can be, but statistically, it will be an advantage.

A privilege is a special or additional right. Not being in prison or having two parents at home isn't a privilege in that sense.

Privilege. I don't mind if you don't think so. It isn't a babies fault if their Mom or Dad is incarcerated. A

I think this guy might be 'alt-right' (though I still don't know just how one qualifies...)

https://www.minds.com/newsfeed/1197934579765657600
So let's get this straight.

Nearly 30,000 troops
No US citizen allowed to protest other than 200 people nowhere close to the event (On Pennsylvania av)
National mall completely locked down.
The seat of American power looks like a military compound.
All for an "elected" president that more than half of America believes may have cheated.
All big tech companies aligned with the current "Elected" president shutting down citizen dialogue.
Media attempting to labeling all dissenting opinion as "Insurrectionist" or "terrorist"
After a year of extreme government over reach sending thousands of businesses into bankruptcy. Never to open again.
Oh and I forgot. This "elected" president is directly compromised to China

I like '1/4-black' ok, even if his name makes me a bit uncomfortable.

I guess it's pretty nutty to suggest Joe Biden is compromised to China. It's not him, it's his son, and it's not China, it's the CCP, Burisma and the lady who used to be married to Moscow's mayor.

Crazy he would make that jump.

No one here is arguing that, or suggesting that there is any fault attached to children of felons, and in many ways, I'm sure such circumstances would be a disadvantage to them. It is absurd to go from that to suggesting that being part of a family without any relatives in federal prison is privileged.

All this came from some rumour in right-wing circles you'd heard that federal prisons are somehow being closed down (presumably to visitors) due to current political issues. Have you any actual evidence that this is the case?

RED FLAGS EVERYWHERE
Let's look at these in more detail. The first 4 are linked:
Nearly 30,000 troops
No US citizen allowed to protest other than 200 people nowhere close to the event (On Pennsylvania av)
National mall completely locked down.
The seat of American power looks like a military compound.
This response was directly caused by a violent attack on the Capitol and its occupants. If, instead, there had been a peaceful protest by Trump supporters, if Trump was going to do the decent thing and be at the inauguration, if there was no further evidence of impending right wing violent plans (and of course there is), then security measures would be at a more normal level. (that is, normal for a violent society like the US...)
All for an "elected" president that more than half of America believes may have cheated.
Simply untrue. Well under 50% believe it, and, more importantly, there is no credible evidence of electoral cheating, the courts have made that crystal clear.
All big tech companies aligned with the current "Elected" president shutting down citizen dialogue.
The only "citizen dialogue" that has been shut down is further incitement to violence. Normally, one would imagine "citizen dialogue" to be any chat between citizens of the US, but the author of the fatuous crap obviously means it to only be right wing plotting...
Media attempting to labeling all dissenting opinion as "Insurrectionist" or "terrorist"
Pure nonsense. What has been labelled insurrectionist is actions that are clearly that - trying to overturn a democratically elected new government by force, or advocating the same. You can keep repeating your idiotic assertions about "the steal" ad nauseam, as long as you are not urging others to violently oppose it...
After a year of extreme government over reach sending thousands of businesses into bankruptcy.
Ah, whose government would that have been? ;)
This "elected" president is directly compromised to China
Leaving aside the appalling grammar, why is a right-wing rumour considered to be evidence?

Not suggesting that, instead suggesting that knowing your full family, and their whereabouts, indicates quite a strong, healthy family. Nothing outrageous.

I'm not convinced. He doesn't seem to be able to see things from the other side of the fence, therefore his obvious bias disqualifies everything he says.

:tea:
Nearly 30,000 troops
A show of force in light of what went on in the Capitol last week is probably wise. Seems that the people in charge aren't taking any chances of being caught with their knickers down this week.
No US citizen allowed to protest other than 200 people nowhere close to the event (On Pennsylvania av)
Well, in light of what happened last week, and the potential for the event to be similarly, erm, disrupted, planning for the smallest inauguration crowd in history is also probably wise. There's also the small thing of the highly contagious pandemic and large crowds.
National mall completely locked down.
As above.
The seat of American power looks like a military compound.
As above.
All for an "elected" president that more than half of America believes may have cheated.
Factual error, by some amount. More than half of US voters voted for Biden. Of those who voted Republican less than 100% of them believe election security was flawed or compromised. Evidence that election security was flawed or compromised has not been forthcoming, which seriously undermines the opinion that it was. I call hot air on this. In the parlance of Uncle Jordon and Cousin Ben, "Facts don't care about your feelings." Or in the words of Alex Jones, "Suck it up, snowflake!"
All big tech companies aligned with the current "Elected" president shutting down citizen dialogue
Given recent events at the Capitol and the part messaging, chat, video, and advertising platforms played in allowing the protests to organise a timed assault on the build on a number of fronts, then perhaps making life a little inconvenient for those people to organise a quick comeback tour is also wise at the moment. As above with the "Elected" bit.
Media attempting to labeling all dissenting opinion as "Insurrectionist" or "terrorist"
You can call people engaged in an organised, open and armed revolt against a constituted government in order to subvert the constitution and coerce a government or its representatives into the adoption of (or submission to) a certain course or state "patriots" if you like - but it doesn't change what those other words mean or why they're being applied to last week's events.
After a year of extreme government over reach sending thousands of businesses into bankruptcy. Never to open again.
In light of the pandemic loss of income and livelihood, and government action in response to that, is a legitimate grievance. However, the idea that the government should have taken no action so things could have carried on as 'normal', thus saving incomes and livelihoods, is not just paradoxical but counterfactual when you consider that the pandemic has made it very clear to pretty much everyone that the economy is a wholly owned subsidiary of the health service. One might even argue that far from the government over-reaching it hasn't reached far or wide enough in addressing the social, public health, and economic consequences of Covid-19. How can a government over-reach when it's basically been sitting on its hands for 11 months?
Oh and I forgot. This "elected" president is directly compromised to China
Some might say, "What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander." I wouldn't say it, but some might.
