The feds can only threaten states with funding. Do this or we will cut off all funding to police programs.

Transgender Health Protections Reversed By Trump Administrationlaklak wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 3:31 pmWell would you look at that. Trump appointee votes to extend LBGT workplace protections.

I thought the world was coming to an end when he was appointed, and that LBGT people would be hunted in the streets? What happened?
The other appointee, Kavanaugh, dissented, but congratulated the LBGT community. His dissent was based on separation of powers, not the case itself.

Sometimes an appointment to SCOTUS changes a person. I sincerely hope that's what's happening here.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Re: All Things Trump: Is it over yet?
Maybe some of them act a 'convincing' way until they are appointed, then do what they think is right.

In an excerpt of his new book, the former national security advisor details the president’s complicated relationship with the Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
Believable? Absolutely, 100%.
True? Hmmm.

Quite. The story is plausible, but I'd be more inclined to take Bolton's word for it had he left the administration in disgust at the time rather than be fired later.Animavore wrote: ↑Thu Jun 18, 2020 5:20 amhttps://www.huffpost.com/entry/bolton-b ... br9_EloCGYBolton Claims Trump Encouraged Xi To Build ‘Concentration Camps’ For Uighurs

The sequence of events also suggests that Bolton was OK with Trump's suggestion when it was made.

This would all be so hilarious if these people didn't have so much power. It's a goddamn Armando Iannucci movie.

I can't watch the videos, but the thumbnails suggest something kind of sinister.

Donald Trump did not know UK had nuclear weapons, Bolton says in new book
US president reportedly said: ‘Oh, are you a nuclear power?’ during meeting with Theresa May in a way that was not a joke, Bolton recalls
Donald Trump was unaware that the UK had its own nuclear weapons, according to the former US national security adviser John Bolton.
The president’s lack of knowledge of the nuclear capabilities of his country’s closest ally is one of many examples Bolton gives of the president’s ignorance of geopolitics in his memoir The Room Where it Happened.
He recalls a meeting in 2018 with the then prime minister, Theresa May, at which a British official referred to the UK as a “nuclear power”. Trump replied: “Oh, are you a nuclear power?” in a tone of voice that made Bolton believe it “was not intended as a joke”, according to a Washington Post excerpt from the book.

A lot of US voters wanted someone as president who was not smarter than them. They succeeded...

CNN
Bolton says the weekly meetings to discuss issues, chaired by Trump in the Roosevelt Room or the Oval Office, more closely resembled college food fights than careful decision-making, with no lower-level effort or involvement by the relevant agencies to sort out the issues and the options. "After these sessions, had I believed in yoga, I probably could have used some," Bolton wrote.
