In the past, Presidents of the US had gravitas and dignity. They were presidential, because that was the role.
They were allowed to present that image because the media didn't cross certain lines. How do you think Kennedy got his image? That guy was fucking around like a champ. He was banging Marlene Dietrich, Marilyn Monroe, and other starlets and sharing them with his brother. He fucked an east German spy, among other national security risks. He had hookers brought into the White House, and banged his secretary, and he gave drugs to girls in the White House (amyl nitrate) to see what would happen.

Maybe, but it seems to depend on if the media overall likes the politician or not. There is no "reporting" any longer, or hardly any. It's advocacy. And, what's worse, many of the writers don't even understand that they're doing it, because for so long journalism and news reporting has not attracted the best and brightest. Most of the bylines are nitwits, with nothing that could be considered a classical, liberal arts education. They went to second rate colleges that taught them to memorize new vocabulary words. They weren't taught to think, which is why they almost always get science reporting, and reports on legal issues, wildly wrong. IMO.,

42 class if whataboutism:
After completely ignoring the Stormy Daniels story on Monday, Fox & Friends finally devoted a segment to the scandal surrounding President Trump’s alleged affair and hush payment to the adult film actress. But host Ainsley Earhardt went to extreme lengths to downplay it, making the case that the media has “a double standard” because they have “forgotten about Bill Clinton,” who was impeached 20 years ago.

On Tuesday, Trump’s favorite show featured a panel discussion between Earhardt, RNC spokesperson Kayleigh McEnany, and Fox News contributor Jessica Tarlov. Earhardt opened the segment by suggesting that nobody but the media cares about Trump’s alleged affair with Daniels.

Not true. Trump cared enough to pay her off, along with all the others.

You don't think that there is enough discussion of the Stormy Daniels story on television? What more do you need covered? They did talk about it, no?

And, don't worry, now that Trump as pissed off his buddy Putin by expelling 100 Russians from the US, and engendering Russian threats of retaliation for it, all the evidence that the Russians have on Trump will start coming out soon. The pee pee tape would be a good retaliatory measure, since Trump is getting all uppity with his masters...

The media do have a double standard, because they consider old allegations of sexual dalliances to be personal issues, unless it's a Republican. That's obvious. But, who cares?

Taxes best left to congress and court. Trump still after Amazon and Washington Post
The provision would allow states to collect sales taxes from the buyer based on the rate in the buyer's home state. Noem wanted to pass the bill before a U.S. Supreme Court ruling on the issue later this year, to give retailers more certainty.

Some conservatives have criticized proposals to uniformly levy state sales taxes because more costs could fall to consumers. While Noem said earlier this month that she opposes a tax increase, she said "out-of-state online retailers are aggressively exploiting a tax loophole, giving them a competitive advantage over local businesses."

"Only Congress can fix this problem in a thoughtful way that equips small business owners with the tools needed to comply with existing law, shields local job creators from egregious out-of-state audits, and levels the playing field," she said in a statement.

Trump never going to grab Ann Coulter’s pussy:
“I knew he was a shallow, lazy ignoramus, and I didn’t care,” Coulter admitted to an audience largely composed of College Republicans and a few hecklers at Columbia University on Tuesday night.

It was the sort of anti-Trump invective that Coulter would share privately with pals, including this reporter, over a wine-soaked dinner during the first year of the new administration, but in recent weeks she has increasingly voiced her displeasure in public forums.

Forty Two wrote:Apparently, polling has had Putin wildly popular with the Russian people
Indeed. Believe it or not, Stalin was wildly popular during his reign too, though not with the several million people he had killed by one means or another. I am not surprised that his popularity is experiencing a resurgence today. Russia has never experienced democracy in its entire history, nor has it ever seen the rise of any influential social strata that value it. Any leader who is seen to protect Mother Russia - no matter how feudal, dictatorial or autocratic - is popular as long as there is no shortage of borscht and vodka, and sometimes not even then. Why would it not admire Putin?
