He's gonna twist their arms...and rips some arms completely out
That style, including his opaque personal financial dealings and his sudden shots at certain companies, has helped unnerve a corporate America that traditionally craves stability. Some business leaders and economists have worried whether executives can speak their minds about the president-elect or his policies without fear of facing Trump’s rage.

“Twisting people’s arms is inherently problematic” for a president, said N. Gregory Mankiw, a professor of economics at Harvard who served as chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers under President George W. Bush.

A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

-----Storms that year caused significant erosion of sand dunes at the course and the Trump organisation submitted plans to Clare County Council to build a two-mile (2.8km) limestone wall to limit the impact of the seas.

At 4m in height and 20m wide, the 200,000-tonne structure would have required some 200,000 tonnes of rock for construction.

The €10m wall would protect against the wasting impacts of the seas, the original application said.

The documents went on to detail that "the rising sea levels and increased storm frequency and wave energy associated with global warming can increase the rate of erosion".----
Of course it will not do any good. It has to be a part of a comprehensive plan for the whole coast. That is why we had the floods of 1953 as before that time there were only piece meal defences along the North Sea coast. This is also the problem facing the East coast of England. Town councils building sea walls with no coordination with other town councils. All you are doing is moving the problem and in many cases making thing worse. Sea walls are the worst sort of defence. Soft defences are far better that is why we have dunes and dykes along the North Sea coast but as always everyone wants to rediscover the wheel when it comes to flood defences.

Yup, increased activity in the financial markets, but government bonds still sliding as borrowing set to rise.

Yep, the stock markets reflect the prospect of short-term profit, not of long-term economic wisdom.

It wasn't the size shape or weight of the wall I was commenting on (although Trump failing to build any wall is always amusing) it was the fact Donald has called Global warming a hoax .

The fact that he wanted to build a 2.8 kilometre short wall means that he maintains that position.

Helped to get him elected, didn't it?
Anyway, the hoax part is the false claims that they know the 'cause' and the 'cure'.

Yep just claiming it is a local problem does not contradict his position.

Huh? It clearly contradicts his position when he claims on one hand global warming is a hoax, and on the other claims it is real.

He has been thwarted by snails. :funny:
Donald Trump's plan to build huge wall at Irish golf course scrapped amid concern for rare snail
Trump International Golf Links and Hotel withdraws proposal for two-mile sea defence in Doonbeg

Donald Trump’s plans for a huge wall at a luxury golf resort have been pulled amid concern over environmental risks and the potential impact on a rare type of snail.

The US President-elect’s company had sought permission to build a 200,000 tonne sea defence stretching two miles along dunes at the Trump International Golf Links and Hotel Ireland in Doonbeg.

His representatives argued the barrier was needed to stop erosion along the sand dunes at Doughmore beach but Clare County Council revealed the plans had been withdrawn on Monday.

The article goes on to say:
Mr Trump has hinted that he does not believe in man-made climate change, tweeting that the “concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese” in 2012, but the application cited global warming and rising sea levels to justify the wall.
Trump acknowledges global warming, but denies that it is man-made.
