The documents went on to detail that "the rising sea levels and increased storm frequency and wave energy associated with global warming can increase the rate of erosion".----

Of course it will not do any good. It has to be a part of a comprehensive plan for the whole coast. That is why we had the floods of 1953 as before that time there were only piece meal defences along the North Sea coast. This is also the problem facing the East coast of England. Town councils building sea walls with no coordination with other town councils. All you are doing is moving the problem and in many cases making thing worse. Sea walls are the worst sort of defence. Soft defences are far better that is why we have dunes and dykes along the North Sea coast but as always everyone wants to rediscover the wheel when it comes to flood defences.
