Well, yes and no. Actual trolling is engaging in gratuitous inflammatory or insulting rhetoric solely intended to provoke an angry reaction or cause alarm or insult that has no purpose or intent of moving the dialogue or debate forward by presenting any rational argument or rebuttal.

That's why the statement from me alleging that I had photos of rEv buggering his daughter was absolutely "trolling" because its sole intent was to cause affront, alarm and anger and had no purpose or intent whatsoever other than to personally insult rEv and which in no way moved the discussion or debate forward.

But to tiny-minded wipers of other people's bottoms like the pond-scum Mods at RatSkep, anything outside of the approved Atheist canon and orthodoxy is "trolling" merely because it upsets Atheist fuckwits.

BTW, as a brief historical note, that definition of "trolling" was what I presented to RatSkep as a rational suggestion for an objective definition for its FUA. Of course it wasn't accepted because that would have put fetters on the ability of the fuckwit mods to ban whomever they pleased for whatever imagined slight they decided to assign to any objectionable post.

Let me expand then. If nobody responded to trolling (as you outlined) there would be only spamming or at best attempt at trolling. Its the reactions making it dialogue (written or spoken conversational exchange between two or more people via Google). In this sense, and in my opinion, those who react are just as accountable as those who provoke.

I believe that attempts to define troll/trolling are bound to fail. Or at least skilled trolls escape any arbitrary definitions. Besides, how to prove intent? That is impossible on internet forum. Unless one admits to intent and even then, its an anecdote. And the idiot trolls? I'd leave them alone. If it was up to me, I'd take it off every rule book.
