Sure, I've no doubt conservatives and generally stupid people (usually a correspondence there) act out of overt selfishness. But the people who moan about tax avoidance by big companies are usually leftists and politically educated. I doubt very much that most of them act out of overt selfishness. How many people have died in some African hell hole today while we all live in luxury?, what have you done to prevent it?.
I've done bugger all as to be honest I have more important things to do in life but then again I'm not claiming to be a saint.

You know what I might go past a charity shop today and spend a £1 buying a 2nd hand book, groovy good deed for the day saving the starving , I will then proceed to read it on the way home and eat enough food to keep a family of 5 alive for a week. Will I feel guilty, nah I will have forgotten all about them

I want people to pay the taxes they're legally required to, and I want those taxes to be administered as fairly as possible. I blame politicians for tax loopholes, and view attempts to conflate (legal) avoidance with (illegal) evasion as morally suspect. But each to their own.
