I have hacked many a scrub pine with a brush hook back in my line-cutting days. Kids these days don't know how easy they got it. Just run a traverse line through the clear bits, punch a button and BINGO, you got angle and distance to your point. Try that with a 200 foot chain, a 30 second transit and a book of trig functions.
No shit! I've still got my Zeiss TH43 and all the gear. Sold my Pentax some years ago, but I could still run a line and turn a corner, although I don't have a clue about trig functions and depend on my HP calculator.
God, how I love precision optical instruments! I used to use it for ELR rangefinding before I got my Leica Vector 21s.
Can't bear to get rid of it. Probably cost $25,000 when it was new, worth about $700 at best today. Still looks brand new though.
