Estonia
Since independence, economy rocketed. Finns were initially printing their currency. Now they have euros. Maybe still minted in Finland?
Tallin in Estonia experimenting with

free buses and trams.
Population 400 000. I don't think there was a serious traffic problem, but old part is medieval with narrow streets.

All I know about Estonia is that when one of their ferries sinks, the population halves.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

Re: Estonia
I had sailed on that ferry, before the Finns sold it to them. The front gate was unreliable and the captain speeding.
Estonians have bought up all the ferry business in the Baltic. You may think you are sailing Stockholm to Helsinki but the Estonians run it. New captains, I hope.
Roads are crap now, they need to connect to Germany.

Re: Estonia
The Estonians were the only people during WWII to do something or other.

They make pretty decent beer
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

How are the roads in Latvia, Lithuania and Poland?Tero wrote:I had sailed on that ferry, before the Finns sold it to them. The front gate was unreliable and the captain speeding.

Plus, as I hear, most of those ferries come from Sweden, with the Swedes going to tallinn to blow off steam.

Re: Estonia
I always go from Stockholm to Turku, then train. Silja owns boats but the Estonians have all the crews and operations.

Viking line may still be in Åland family hands.
Makes no difference, Helsinki Turku or Tallin route, all boats are full of drunks, the Swedes go for a cheap weekend.
Finns drive ferry ...Stockholm...route to Europe as St Petersburg route is useless, your car insurance wont cover it. Like Mexico.
Estonia to Poland should be workable in future, all EU.

Re: Estonia
I checked the driving and you can in fact get insurance in Russia but if you were just going to Baltic countries, the ferries will take your car from Sweden.
Never have checked train travel through those areas.
Finland is essentially an island, best routes are already in use: Stockholm.
