"Made?" She was sent to inseminate herself, which she appears to have done. It doesn't look like she was strapped down to the bed and forcibly inseminated by her mother, it looks like she cooperated. It's possible she was coerced, but I'm merely saying that one should not make snap judgments, and somebody ought to ask the girl if she was a willing participant. After all, if she was, she was NOT "sexually assaulted" given what the story says. She "assaulted" herself, which is usually called "masturbation" and isn't a crime. I know of no law that prohibits a 14 year old from inseminating herself using donor sperm. It's only illegal for the sperm donor (or anyone else) to inject the sperm themselves.

That's the conundrum here. Was a crime committed? It's entirely possible that no crime was committed, and that the girl was voluntarily involved.

I'd like to know, so I'd like someone to ask the girl what her opinion and feelings on the matter are before getting all judgmental and junk.

After all, if she's old enough to bleed, she's old enough to breed, as is self-evident in this case, so biologically there is nothing amiss here. All the outrage is purely social and has to do with contemporary mores. Girls of 14 were quite commonly called "mothers" only a hundred years ago, when it was perfectly legal for 14 year olds to marry. Sixteen is the "statutory age" in the UK I believe, although it's generally 18 in the US. In some states in the US it's STILL legal for 13 year old girls to be married with parental and court consent.

I don't see that it's impossible that the girl did not love her barren mother enough to surrogate a baby for her.
