No "we" don't all know that.Blind groper wrote:I listed what I would like to see, if it were possible. We all know that American gun enthusiasts and the NRA are not strictly sane. Nor are the politicians under the NRA thumb honest. With that level of corruption, there is no way the USA is going to develop sensible gun laws any time soon. You are stating your own bigoted opinion as if it is a fact. The rest of us just aren't that stupid.
Excellent let's have the loophole purchase avenue plussed, expanded that is.Blind groper wrote:Which is why gun availability has to be restricted right across the board. Today, any murderer not in prison can buy a gun on the second hand market. Wood ducks are cute and pretty and must be left unmolested from violence to live carefree lives in the forest with Bambi and Thumper's families.

Anyone who sees the gun crime statistics and still claims that more guns means less crime is very, very stupid.Gallstones wrote: The rest of us just aren't that stupid.
Anyone who continues to believe John Lott's claims, after seeing that a number of his peers have studied those claims and shown that they are garbage, is very, very stupid.

They are conclusions.Gallstones wrote: We know they are your opinions.
My approach is to look at the data and draw the obvious conclusions.

Hmmm.
Gallstones,
Methinks that you are trying to evade the issue by ascribing personal motives to my views. I hold my views because they are the rational views to hold, based on the data available.
I realise that you do not want to look squarely at the data and the obvious conclusions, because those conclusions do not fit with your emotion based illogic. Nothing unusual there. Most people think with their gonads, rather than their brain, and are unable to separate personal desire from rational thinking.
The USA has by far the greatest murder rate out of all developed countries - 4 times as high in most cases. It also has the highest gun ownership of all developed countries. Nearly two thirds of all US murders are done with firearms (mostly hand guns). The conclusion is obvious. Guns are the problem, and mostly hand guns. You cannot face this simple fact because you have an atavistic love of guns. Your emotions get in the way of clarity of thought.
For every human action, there is a rationalisation and a reason. Only sometimes do they coincide.

You may as well give up, BG - she has a deep emotional commitment to her precious guns which no amount of rational argument or evidence will ever shift...

I thank you for your concern for my welfare but I did know that. It's why I always tread carefully when I pass by your projections.
