I don't think they Chinese want freedom and democracy. Why would they? Those are Western cultural values that are alien to them. Their biggest gripe is with corruption. As long as the government provides stability and an increasingly level of prosperity they are content under a dictatorship. If there is going to be a revolt, it will be over an economic recession , not for freedom and democracy.JimC wrote:I agree it is quick, and they face the danger of populist revolts. A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.
Re: Obama's Marxist politics stink so badly...
Don't think anyone really revolts overs 'freedom and democracy' they do so over being hungry and not feeling secure (ie the state trying to kill them)

I'm now interested in how our claimant will try to weasel out from under the absurdity of his claim.

Why would anyone revolt over "freedom" and "democracy"? "Freedom" doesn't really mean anything, it means something different to everyone so kind of hard to base a revolt on that. "Democracy" finds itself in pretty much the same boat. "Voting" is a meaningless act, a smoke screen to give the illusion of democracy.Tyrannical wrote:I don't think they Chinese want freedom and democracy. Why would they? Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.

Freedom and democracy are nice to have luxuries once you have the basics sorted out, and sure people want luxuries but to die for them not likely. People may risk their lives for their mates and to defend their families but for ideology not a chance

Besides that, what is "freedom" and "democracy" anyway? Not really luxuries, but vague concepts.MrJonno wrote:Freedom and democracy are nice to have luxuries once you have the basics sorted out, and sure people want luxuries but to die for them not likely. Your ignorance of the facts in Somalia is unsurprising. The only people in Somalia who are armed are the bandits and warlords and their minions. The average Somali doesn't have a firearm, and didn't even before the collapse of the government, which, like EVERY OTHER nation in Africa, stringently regulates and bans firearms for ordinary citizens.rainbow wrote:To be more precise "Democrats that support gun control".Gawdzilla Sama wrote:"Democrats".rEvolutionist wrote:In Sethism, there isn't much room left after he labels Obama a Marxist. With guns in the hands of every second citizen, you will have a guarantee of freedom and prosperity.
Like in Somalia.
I believe it really works well there.
Like everywhere else that tyrants and despots rule, the problem is not enough guns in the hands of the common citizenry, which makes them incapable of overthrowing the despotism.

Yup. And lied by omission.ronmcd wrote:So Obama lied by not revealing his intention to bring forward Marxist policies?Seth wrote:He is. He has. Just look at the massive executive action via regulation that Cass Sunstein has been implementing. It's not overtly Marxist, because it's too soon for that. It's a "death of a thousand cuts" plan to infuse the nation with Marxist policies and practices over the long, long term.I'm confused. If he doesn't ACTUALLY bring forward any marxist policies at all in his 2nd term, just as he didn't in his 1st, how will you explain that? He forgot?

The warlords certainly didn't recruit from the many military academies that dot the Somalia landscape.

You haven't heard of West Point, Mogadishu? Which is slightly ironic, given the location (and Eastern-pointiness) of Somalia.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:The warlords certainly didn't recruit from the many military academies that dot the Somalia landscape.

He has, or he hasn't. You can't have it both ways, interpreting the fact he hasn't as just a matter of time is, well, odd. Paranoid even.Seth wrote:He has. By that logic you Seth are a raging socialist/commie/marxist/libertarian/anarchist/republican/democrat. Sure, you haven't actually done anything to promote this new (confused) manifesto, but I have to assume you have a nefarious plan and it's only a matter of time ...
