Doing time for defending one's home and life is not what I call civilized

What if it's just some drunken ass that thinks it's his house in his drunken stupor.

Incorrect. That's only NRA propaganda. It goes along with "scary black weapons". There are defining characteristics of an assault weapon and much enhanced functionality in an assault situation as a result of them. I've been over this in some detail.
The "definition" used in the law has nothing to do with enhancing functionality, and even less with the weapon's usefulness in an "assault" role... much of the gun crime in the us is done with saturnday night specials.

No, but doing time for killing someone merely because he was a threat in your over-active imagination is very civilised.
For every human action, there is a rationalisation and a reason. Only sometimes do they coincide.

If you did that in my country, which unlike the USA, is civilised in terms of guns, you would be arraigned for murder, and end up doing time. A long time.
You're such a wet blanket.

The weapon used by Anders Breivik to shoot 69 people was a Ruger Mini-14, a rifle which I also happen to own. It's never been banned by name or by feature in any assault weapons ban in the US, and was and still is legal to own in Norway as well. Of course, the media didn't shout up and down about the firearm used to kill 69 people in this case, because it wasn't a scary-looking black gun that is similar to a model used by the military. However, its functionality is essentially the same, as I can personally attest to from the time I've spent with mine at the range, and as clearly evidenced by its efficiency in Breivik's hands.

The one on top is labeled by some as an "assault weapon", the one on the bottom was used by Anders Breivik to kill 69 people. But please, go ahead and tell me more about how "assault weapons" are extra special dangerous because of the scary black paint and pistol grip.

Been over this Wumbologist. I don't feel like repeating myself. Use the search function.

Incidentally, I agreed that the mini-14 with a high-capacity magazine should be banned as well. High cap mags have to go. Minimum 5 year federal prison sentence for anyone caught in possession of one, 10 years for possession of two, electric chair for possession of three or more.

Watching people who don't own guns talk about "assault weapons" feels like watching someone who's never opened up the hood of a car explain how to change the timing belt.

Watching people who don't know what they're talking about, but think they're experts because they pop off some rounds at the range is like..

I own many guns, and unlike you, I know what the fuck I'm talking about. I already had it out with Mozg over this and she knows a fuckload more than you.

Go ahead, enlighten me on what makes an AR-15 a baby-killing murder machine, but not a Mini-14.

Search Function -> Use it

It's all there. Alternatively you can tell me how they're exactly the same. Though I'll probably just laugh. I've made the point here already arguing against Mozg and Seth to my satisfaction (they shut the fuck up). :hehe:

They're not "exactly the same", or else they'd both be called AR-15's or Mini-14's and not one or the other. However, they will both perform the same function, delivering .223/5.56 downrange at a similar rate of fire. I promise, the AR-15 won't make anyone deader than the Mini-14 just because it's black and has a pistol grip.

Very good! Because going on a killing spree in a school is very much like firing at a target at the range, they just move a little more right? :lol:
