She faces an uncertain future? She's 86, I'm fairly sure what her future will be in a few years.Audley Strange wrote:http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-ma ... r-20831195
Well not for the bag snatcher, clearly.

Re: Luck runs out.
More like she lost her life savings at the Casino and was gambling on public sympathy?
What will the world be like after its ruler is removed?

OF course, wandering round salfod at night with your life saving is so much safer than say putting it in the bank. stupid old bat
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

It would be easy enough to determine if she won big, right? Casinos here have to keep tax records.Scrumple wrote:More like she lost her life savings at the Casino and was gambling on public sympathy?

BTW, she's a damn fool for carrying the money around, of course. She couldn't defend her life savings, but she thought they were safer with her than in a bank. Old fool needed someone to make decisions for her.

Some drug dealer is very well off today. She gambled. She lost.
That's why I never gamble.
I only gambol

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

The money will go to fund Rationalia, so I don't see what her problem is.

Old fools are notoriously pigheaded IME. If you push too hard they start resenting you and probably do what you're warning against just to spite you. A lot like teenagers I imagine.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:BTW, she's a damn fool for carrying the money around, of course. My mom was well into ALZ when she left here. I survived nearly three years with her.Făkünamę wrote:Old fools are notoriously pigheaded IME. I cannot judge her too harshly for distrusting bankers though. She merely took a good instinct too far.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:BTW, she's a damn fool for carrying the money around, of course. What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."
