While I don't agree with him, I know it's not a decision he made just because he likes being an ass. I think rational people can hold the same beliefs as Drew, and I know for a fact they can be wonderful, caring people, like Drew.

Caring for his own, but nobody else. Anti-social. And dangerously so, if he practices what he preaches.

What, are you trying to argue that you aren't anti-social? Perhaps I should have more accurately said anti-society (although, i'd argue they are the same thing).

I think that's reaching. Caring for every poor person in the world is not a prerequisite for a good person.

But actively hating the most disadvantaged would seem to me to preclude someone from being a truly good person. He might be nice to his own, but pretty much everyone is nice to their own. Anyway, I feel a bit strange discussing Drews worst points with someone else while he's sitting in the room. If he wants to defend himself, then I might say more.

It's tough to defend yourself when somebody who doesn't know you has filled in your life already.

I would think actively hating required more than voting Libertarian and saying to a forum 'fuck poor people'. Sounds more like passively hating.
Either way, think of it more like discussing the beliefs of some people rather than this specific person.
Also, he's put a lot of thought into his beliefs, so therefore doesn't feel the need to defend them....I think. I'm sure he will correct me if I'm wrong.

Why would putting thought into my beliefs men I wouldn't defend them? THough the rest of your point stands. But really I can defend myself. Thank you though, for making it clear that simply insulting me is not a convincing argument to anyone else.

Do you understand how the sorts of actions and beliefs that flow forward from a statement like "fuck the poor!" can be harmful to both the poor and the general stability of society?

I am perfectly aware of how capable you are of defending yourself.
I didn't mean you wouldn't, I just know that if someone disagrees with me and I'm happy with the amount of time and thought I put into my beliefs, then if they just want to attack, it's not worth arguing. Kinda like how I don't let our political and social discussions turn into arguments. ;)
