I want a camera that's recording all the time

The things you miss are heartbreaking. I want a video camera, that's unobtrusive, and records all the time.
So it constantly writes over what's already recorded, unless you save it.

So if something happens that you want to keep, you just press a button, and it saves the last 5/10/15 minutes, and then carries on.

I was in the one-pound shop yesterday, and there were two angelic little blond girls there, one about five, the other about three.
The five-year-old started taking stuff out of the other's basket and putting it back, saying that she was only allowed three things.
This angelic little three-year-old flew at her sister, screaming and doing her absolute best to bite her. The older sister had to keep wriggling, and managed to avoid her little sister's snapping teeth.
She was getting mouthfulls of jumper, or biting fresh air. I've never EVER seen someone try to bite, like that. It's obvious that the instinct is still there, from our ancestors.

And to see such an INNOCENT looking, pretty little girl doing it was just amazing.
Another gem I've missed.

So if there are cameras about, like I described, I want one.
And if there aren't, there should be.

Some time ago I witnessed a car going around a large roundabout the wrong way here. It was fucking chaos - cars swerving out of the way, fists shaking in the air and horns sounding angrily. I wish I'd have caught that on vid.

Oh yeh, I never thought of that.
I could use my toe-mounted camera, designed for looking up skirts.
I could just mount it on my head.

There are actually video cameras that look like specs now. I've seen them on ebay. No tape or hard disk, just record to a chip.
I actually bought a little camera that was fitted in a rather plump ball-point pen, for about a fiver off ebay.
It was ok, I really just wanted something to record speech, which it did quite well.
The real problem is the batteries with stuff like that. The battery was rechargeable, lasted for about two months, then died, leaving a worthless bit of kit.
So a constantly recording camera is perfectly feasibly, if you were to carry a big battery pack in your pocket.

But, I bet James Bond has already got one.

The BBC's nature unit (I think) used something like that, but on a huge scale, to film the breaching of whales in high-def, slow-motion. You can rarely tell when a whale is going to leap full length out of the water, so you point your camera and hope. The constant recording means that when one does breach while the camera is pointing in the right direction (still down to an element of luck), you've already caught the moment, rather than missing the first two seconds as you hit the button.

On the small scale, I can see such a camera becoming almost ubiquitous as people start using them as a deterrent to attackers, or to record evidence during transactions, deals, etc. Privacy laws are going to get interesting.

... or at least trying to reconcile the existing laws with new technology is going to be very interesting. Laws tend to lag well behind new technology in a never-ending game of catch-up. Occasionally, laws tend to try and catch up too fast, and that's when the real problems start.

This was a relevant story this week, but I'm not sure how video interference would work, unless you just fried every device within a few feet of you:
