"Prosperity through freedom"?
I'll take childish empty platitudes for $500 Alex.

Re: 2012 Vice Presidential Debate - October 11 - Biden v. Ry
The day a presidential or vice presidential candidate steps up to a debate, opens with "YOU SUCK. FOOLZ DROOL THE KING ROOLZ" steps aside, does an endzone dance and then marches out with a cohort of sycophants wearing spangly bling, and chanting that same refrain — that's the day I get excited about voting again.

At first I laughed at this, then I chuckled a little, then I smiled, then I smiled and sighed. Then I thought....yesrasetsu wrote:The day a presidential or vice presidential candidate steps up to a debate, opens with "YOU SUCK. I Hope you Change your mind about that. It's not the concept of empty platitudes you really object to. You just go Forward, and pick and choose the ones you like.Gerald McGrew wrote:"Prosperity through freedom"?

I didn't like "Hope and Change" either. But it was a campaign slogan...something to put on posters and bumper stickers. However now, Romney is using "prosperity through freedom" as a substitute for actual substance.Coito ergo sum wrote:I Hope you Change your mind about that. Hope was kinda silly. Can't argue much about Change and Forward as slogans though. If Obama hadn't changed anything the Republicans wouldn't have spent the last three years throwing themselves into such hysterics. And Romney can't possibly use Forward for his campaign, especially as a challenger. Makes no sense.
"Prosperity through freedom" though? Sounds cute, but it implies that freedom is something currently lacking in America, which he will fix once he's in office. I beg to differ.

Is it the idea of prosperity that bothers you, or just freedom?Gerald McGrew wrote:I didn't like "Hope and Change" either. I'm freaked out by both concepts, naturally.

I like unspecified Change. Don't you want Change?
What Change? Change to what?
Don't ask.

LOL...nice try. "Gosh, you must be against prosperity and/or freedom!!"Coito ergo sum wrote:Is it the idea of prosperity that bothers you, or just freedom?
Again, it's the fact that this empty catchphrase is being used as a substitute for actual substance. If Romney had said, "I'm for prosperity through freedom. Now here's what I specifically mean by that..." that would be worth talking about.

Change to Medicare and Social Security that won't effect coverage but will magically make it cheaper! Change to Obamacare that will keep all the stuff people like, and somehow make it cost less! Change in the deficit by cutting funding to PBS!
