Anytime that mayhem is involved, I think you've crossed the line into cruel and unusual punishment. And simply offering it as a mitigation in plea deals is no better. The same goes for chemical castration and its questionable ethics. Whenever sex crimes are involved, and particularly sex crimes involving children, people's humanity just seems to go out the window. We contemplate punishments for such offenses that we'd be insane to advocate for any other offenses.

Except that noone seems to be focusing on castration as "punishment". It's about actually solving the problem, where all other solutions seem to fail.

Like I already said. Removal of the ovaries. Primary female sex hormone--estrogen--is mostly produced there. That should curb sexual desires--at least a bit.

The question deserves little more than jokes. Female sex offenders (of any seriousness) are few and far between.

Such behaviour, when it occurs (rarely) is generally of weird emotional causes - not hormones. So any treatment would be behavioural, not surgical. Actually, treatment generally consists of time in prison. I have no idea whether that reduces reoffending or not.

I'm going to bed right now, so I can't really research this at all, but you're right when it comes to rape (it's like 99% male offenders vs 1% female) but when it comes to pedophilia I think the gender is ratio is more even. I think this thread quickly changed to the castration of pedophiles exclusively rather than just rapists. So the question of whether female pedophiles should be "castrated' just the same as males is interesting and is not really a joke. Otherwise you're putting women up in some pedestal by not letting them be criticized.

If you think about it, it's a dishonest question.
There is no system in existences anywhere that gives 100% true verdicts in sex offences, or any other type of crime.

So a more honest question would be " would you support physical castration for those CONVICTED of sex offences ? "
And to make it more honest still " would you support physical catration of a youth for having sex with a girl who was just one day under the age of consent? "

Because the original question covers everything, without actually setting it out.
