LG ELECTRONICS.%&**%%%%*

Post by padraic » Sat Sep 08, 2012 1:36 am

I will cut a long story short:

My TV developed a fault,Contacted LG, who agreed to pay for parts. TV went to repairer suggested by LG. Last Wednesday received a call from the repairer advising LG have refused to pay for the part. The total cost of repair, including part,is $220.

I have emailed the guy with whom I've been dealing in case there has been a misunderstanding. He usually responds same day,he has not this time.IF there is no misunderstand, I am not going to fight with LG over an $80 part, indeedly dooodly not.

What I AM going to do is post a short (under 5 minutes) video on You Tube, 'LG ELECTRONICS,can they be trusted?" . With permission, I will be posting the link here and several other international forums to which I belong.I will be asking forum members and viewers of the video to post it on their Facebook account.

I really don't care about the money. I DO care about being crapped on by a large company, especially in such a petty and unethical way. But hey, this may simply be a misunderstanding, easily resolved, I hope so.

Did you check the warranty, padraic? I've always found Korean companies to be very generous wrt repairs and service. Well, here in Korea, anyway.

TVs are now disposable. Buy a new one. They are all the same.

Of course, but as I said LG AGREED TO PAY FOR PARTS than changed their mind. Besides, Australia is not Korea. I suspect we may have different cultural norms of ethical business behaviour and arseholery. :read:

Do you have anything in writing where they agreed to pay for parts? If it was just a phonecall to a call-centre lackey and they have no recording of it (or refuse/ claim not to be able to provide one) then you have nothing to base a claim against them on and may be liable for prosecution for libel if you go ahead with a youtube post, unless you are very very careful in your wording. Sounds like the shop is charging you $140 for labor?

I think some more details are relevant here.
What design flaw does LG accept responsibility for, and what is their reason for not paying the labor to make you ~whole after they've accepted responsibility?
Could be the repair shop too. They may have submitted improper info to LG, or be over charging, or otherwise outside of what LG has agreed to fix.

Do you have anything like an equivalent of the US Small Claims Court? I've a friend who had similar situations, and easily won several settlements against large companies; they had to pay up. He noticed that in at least a few cases, the company didn't even send a lawyer to defend themselves. Monetarily, it wasn't worth the expense for them.

That may not be an accident, you know.
