I realize that many of you ferriners don't understand that, and that's OK. I don't understand a lot of what y'all do, and I lived overseas for most of my adult life. Probably a good thing they don't have concealed carry in the UK, because I'd have nailed at least two shit-sucking punk muggers all by myself. Only place I've ever been mugged, and I've lived in fucking Johannesburg and Lagos. So don't talk to me about how "safe" the UK is, it's like goddamned Mad Max over there. People too shit scared to protect themselves from drug and drink addled punks. Funny, that's never happened to me in the U.S. despite the number of guns in circulation. To me, 8000 gun homicides is acceptable, particularly since the majority of those will be gang related. I honestly do not care how many gangbangers pop caps in each other's asses. The more the merrier, IMO, less trash for the criminal justice system to deal with.
This to me is a very honest reply. If the majority of people in the US like their current gun laws, and are happy to accept the increased number of homicides that are one of the consequences, then fair enough...
Thing is, it's been proven by history, particularly US history of the last 25 years, that less guns (in the hands of law abiding citizens) means more crime, and more guns in the hands of law abiding citizens means less crime. The facts are not in dispute. In every state where concealed carry has been legalized in the last 25 years, violent crime rates have DROPPED substantially and have stayed below pre-CCW levels
We understand that by trying to take guns from the law abiding all that is accomplished is that criminals have more unarmed victims to prey upon, as they do in the UK, which is a far more violent society overall than even the worst of our metropolitan areas, not to mention our suburban and rural areas which are really quite peaceful in large part BECAUSE people have guns and criminals know it.
So yes, 8000 gun-related homicides a year are acceptable because the number would triple, quadruple or go even higher if the people were disarmed. And that completely ignores the other function of an armed citizenry, which is to prevent or ultimately rectify tyranny.
