Re: Paul Ryan
I'm probably being dense but if a budget is not approved, how does each govt dept know how much it has to spend?

And Republicans hate spending on anything that doesn't directly affect themselves. And then they'd prefer it be other peoples' money.Coito ergo sum wrote:When they spend like drunken sailors on shore leave, yes.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:Do you actually break out in hives when the word "spending" is used?Coito ergo sum wrote:Ad hoc mechanisms to approve spending.

Rock solid justification for not passing a budget for several years, and even rejecting -- two years in a row -- the budget proposed by the leader of their own Party, the President of the United States.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:And Republicans hate spending on anything that doesn't directly affect themselves. Re: Paul Ryan
Feel free to propose a reasonable explanation for not passing a budget, then. I'm sure there are other possibilities.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:I seriously believe you have a touch of paranoia, C.E.S.Coito ergo sum wrote:It is, but it avoids scrutiny.Clinton Huxley wrote:Sounds bonkers.
However, "because Republicans won't let them," or just in general "The Rethugnicans [or Repukes or Repugnicans or whatever juvenile namecalling is desired] are jerky McJerkJerks...." ought to be reserved for last resort.

You'd like that, wouldn't you. Less feelings of responsibility for fucking up the country. Sorry, the blame is obvious, live with it. Obstructionist tactics to make the current administration look bad while hurting the US as a whole is a very Republican system.

How can the budget be Republican obstructionism, since the Dems all voted against it, including their own President's budget.
They did pass one in 2009, though.... that was a misstatement of mine above, sorry. You remember that? When the Democrats controlled the House and the Senate, and Bush proposed a budget that was a 3% increase over the previous year, but Pelosi/Reid in the House and Senate change the 2009 budget to make it a 17.9% increase in spending over the previous year.

Republican obstructionism, my foot.
