More like "fear mongered" than "feared". The politicians - did you notice it was politicians making these complaints? - are just concerned that less money is flowing into their districts because the military is saving on parts.

Their real concern is that the proper royalties aren't being paid for the intellectual property rights. It would be more accurate to call the parts "pirated" rather than "fake".

It should make a good excuse, though. "Oh, sorry, Pakistan, your soldiers died because our airplanes went off course because of 'fake parts'! Never mind that there are recordings of us ordering the strike on the coordinates of your men. It was China, not us!"
