The Queen's Speech

Post by Clinton Huxley » Wed May 09, 2012 4:21 pm

Be of good cheer, Britons! Barbarous folk across the seas, observe how it is done. Her Britannic Majesty has re-opened Parliament. The brightest and best of the worlds most august legislature have reconvened and the world will be set to rights.

The government is going to magically make the economy grow again! Rejoice!

Something or other maternity leave! Huzzah!

Prince Charles gets a new griffin. And not before time!

Nick Clegg gets his vanity project of Lords Reform!

There is something for everybody.

Odd, she didn't stutter at all. The film must have got it wrong.

She didn't stutter her speech for sure*, but her peach? Well. That's a different matter.

* Not that I heard or was even aware of it. I thought she just done those things at Christmas.

I happened to see the preliminaries this morning, during my coffee break. Trying to squash about 1,000 people into a space that small probably violates very fire/building safety regulation in existence.

As good a time as any to sing a song.

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

Aye, strange head gear is just the thing, do you see? While the natives are gazing in astonishment at one's hat, you steal their country from under 'em. Is it any coincidence that Britain's Imperial sunset coincided with a decline in hat wearing? I rather think it was not.

One can admire her fortitude and determination, but it's becoming painfully obvious that it's high time she stepped down and let tiny willy take over.
