More work, and less money? Good!

After all, isn't the US following an unsustainable path and hasn't the US for far too long been happily availing itself of a disproportionately high living standard?

A minor campaign footnote from the party of tolerance and inclusion...
Mitt's Openly Gay Spokesman Resigns
Mitt Romney may have been cool with his foreign-policy spokesman being openly gay, but many vocal conservatives were not, driving Richard Grenell to resign from the Romney campaign not long after getting hired. Grenell announced his departure in a statement saying, "While I welcomed the challenge to confront President Obama's foreign policy failures and weak leadership on the world stage, my ability to speak clearly and forcefully on the issues has been greatly diminished by the hyperpartisan discussion of personal issues that sometimes comes from a presidential campaign." The National Review and Daily Caller recently published pieces on the outrage over Grenell's appointment.

Paul hijacked Mitten's State of Massachusetts.

http://articles.boston.com/2012-04-30/m ... s-governor

Having all but locked up the Republican nomination for president, Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, assembled a slate of delegates to support him at the Republican nominating convention in Tampa.

But when Massachusetts Republicans went to their caucuses on Saturday, many didn’t vote for Mitt Romney’s picks.

Instead, they went for Ron Paul.

Less than half of Romney’s 27 chosen delegates won, and the losers included some notable Massachusetts Republicans....
The complexion of the delegation may not matter much to Romney’s nomination: All delegates and alternates are committed to vote for him.
We'll see about that committed clause, not much Massachusetts law could do during the Tampa convention. Could be fun if a few hundred Romney delegates decide not to vote for him at the national convention.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

They might want to be able to come back to Massachusetts afterwards, though.

Voting Ron Paul into the VP slot even if Romney didn't want it would be pretty interesting.

It appears that States may be unable to force delegates to vote a certain way :eddy:

http://www.fairvote.org/response-to-a-r ... 6EBfVKDnTr
As set out in the Rules of the Republican Party, delegates have the ability to vote according to the delegates’ preference, even if that is contrary to the outcome of each state’s primary. According to one source, the legal counsel for the Republican National Convention in 2008 stated: “[The] RNC does not recognize a state’s binding of national delegates, but considers each delegate a free agent who can vote for whoever they choose.” Thus, if a delegate were to challenge his or her ability to vote as a free agent, he or she would have grounds under Rule 38.
A large revolt of pledged delegates has never happened before that I'm aware of, but I've never heard of another situation where so many "bound" delegates may be Paul supporters.

Oh, and just to remind you how much Mitt respects people, especially his own father-in-law. I found this utter lack of respect for another person's beliefs to just be a barometer for how he approaches solutions for the rich, and life for the poor.

Do you honestly think he sympathizes with the underprivileged college kids...the man with the silver spoon shoved down dead people's throats.

Well, Obama was pretty much set up for failure. I mean when you get a Nobel Peace Prize barely into office it's all down hill from there.

Looks like Ron Paul stole Louisiana too,

http://www.dailypaul.com/229929/ron-pau ... -delegates
Early reports indicate that Paul’s campaign won 5 of the 6 Congressional Districts in the Saturday, April 28 statewide vote, with a sixth district still up in the air. Analysis of the results estimates that upwards of 70% of the delegates to the Louisiana Republican Convention held in Shreveport, LA on June 2 will be composed entirely Ron Paul supporters. The delegates at the state convention then choose the majority of the delefates that get sent to the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida later this summer.

Louisiana is allotted a total of 46 delegates to the RNC. Twenty of those delegates were allocated to presidential contenders by primary voters, but those allocations are not finalized until the state convention when delegates can be differently allocated. Given Ron Paul’s success in the Louisiana delegate process, re-allocating the delegates is a likely option. Thirty-eight national delegates are chosen by the delegates to the state convention and an additional eight delegates are either party officials or chosen by party officials.
National GOP is nervous about Paul taking Nevada

http://www.lasvegassun.com/blogs/ralsto ... ke-over-n/
In a letter delivered Wednesday to GOP Chairman Michael McDonald, the RNC's chief counsel said if Ron Paul delegates are allowed to take too many slots for the national convention, Nevada's entire contingent may not be seated in Tampa.

Clearly, the RNC fears that mischief at the Sparks convention this weekend could result in Ron Paul delegates taking Mitt Romney slots and then not abiding by GOP rules to vote for the presumptive nominee on the first ballot in Tampa. So they are trying to force McDonald to ensure that actual Romney delegates fill 20 of the 28 national convention slots, thus removing any mystery of who they will vote for.

You seem to have missed the "not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee on that video. That said, it brings up pretty good points, don't you think? Or do you think it's okay for half of all recent college graduates to be unemployed or underemployed?

Corpses don't have beliefs.

But hey, if we're going to bring up religion and dead people, let's look at Obama's church's position on the thousands of people killed in the World Trade Center attacks:

Personally, I think he does. More importantly, though, I think the college kids would prefer jobs to sympathy.

I'm still trying to figure out when going to college became a sign of being "underprivileged."

Some electoral math…

Here are the states I expect are solidly safe for Obama: California, Connecticut, D.C., Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts (sorry, Governor), Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington. Total electoral votes: 218
(People always talk about Pennsylvania being a battleground state, and thanks to the backwoods mountain people living in the center of it there always seems to be some hope for Republicans to take it. But in the end it’s a blue state, end of story.)

And ones that are still likely for Obama, but might be a fight: Wisconsin, Maine, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Mexico. Total electoral votes: 39

Here are the states I expect are solidly safe for Romney: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana (yes, Obama won it last time, but that was something of a fluke), Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Montana, Mississippi, Nebraska, N. Carolina (same comment as Indiana) N. Dakota, Oklahoma, S. Carolina, S. Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, Wyoming. Total electoral votes: 170

And ones that are still likely to go to Romney, but might be a fight: Arizona, N. Carolina (same comment as Indiana). Total electoral votes: 26.

And the true battleground states: Iowa, Colorado, Florida, Missouri, Nevada, Ohio, Virginia. Total electoral votes: 91

Adding the first two paragraphs together (218 + 39) and Obama can consider 257 electoral votes to be pretty reliable. Romney can feel safe about 196 (170 + 26). Remember that 270 are needed to win.

Any thoughts on how some of these battleground states are likely to break? Any contentions with some of the “likely” or “safe” red or blue states?

Ironically, Ron Paul would bring chaos to that tabulation. Obama wouldn't even carry California over the medical marijuana issue. Would be fun to watch the anti-war protestors picket Obama.

You mean if he was Romney's running mate? Not likely, and that'll never happen anyway (feel free to quote me). If you're suggesting that Obama vs Paul would throw the electoral map up in the air, I would counter-suggest that such a contest would result in Obama winning all 50 states.
