Why even tax corporations? Why not just tax people?

Why are we expected to believe that any entity whose primary objective is to maximize profit will hire any more workers than necessary just because they have had their tax rates reduced?

Because, for some reason, we expect that the people behind such entities might still be good citizens at heart, and the fact that they understand this is an informal contract, and that being greedy on their part is a long term mistake as more people working means more money in the circuit and a generally better economy, so potentially more customers for themselves; and because what's been granted can be taken back.

Good citizens would not, I hope, hire more workers than necessary. I would hope that the charitable organizations I give to are not hiring more workers than necessary and wasting the donation money.

Hiring necessary workers, and refraining from hiring unnecessary workers, is what good financial management requires. I don't hire more yard workers than I need to cut the grass, and I don't hire more roofers than I need to repair my roof. Who are these people that expect businesses to act differently than that and to hire more people than needed?

I'm sure that happens a lot. But, Robert S, in the post you responded to, referred to more workers than necessary, as if companies should hire more than necessary in order to not be selfish creeps.
