I used to spend two two hour shifts a week teaching English to "los nondocumentos" in San Diego. It would be very amusing to look out the window (classes were held in a storefront to be accessible to the people that wanted to take the classes) and see a teenager dropping off Mom or Dad for class.

The problem with no fence is that the priests are dying of heart attacks chasing the little kids. The little buggers escape the premises and run up hill, knowing full well the priests can't maintain their pace on level ground.

You invite me to have a reasonable discussion while you inform me that you deliberately provoke the poo flinging you say will make it impossible. It seems to me that this is honest and dishonest at the same time.

It's ridiculously easy to have a civilized debate with me. All you have to do is be civilized, polite and act like an adult, and show some scholarship and genuine interest in exploring a subject.

Well, that's because I'm well aware of the fact that most of the Netwits who infest this and other like fora, have absolutely no interest in a reasonable discussion, so I choose to troll them instead because it amuses me to do so. Occasionally someone with an actual intellect will come along and eschew the cheap shots of the peanut gallery, and we have a nice discussion. Not often though.

Because I also take pleasure in twitting the Netwits into making intemperate and idiotic statements that I can use against them, and atheism in general, in other venues. There's nothing quite like extracting some utter nonsense Gawdzilla or Schenibester has spewed as an example of the mindless stupidity of Atheists and a condemnation of their false claims to be somehow more rational or more intelligent than the theists that they are constantly insulting.

Truth is, every theist I know is far smarter, more erudite, better educated, more rational, more reasonable, more respectful, more polite and generally better company (conversationally and socially) than all but a very few Atheists I'm acquainted with.

So, in a way, I'm just slumming here because it amuses me to do so. But occasionally I'm pleasantly surprised by someone here who shows a genuine interest in having a vigorous, but reasonable, discussion. Rare, but possible.
