WTF? We have mountains of the stuff to spare ... literally. An EU butter mountain in fact.

That'll teach 'em not to reject joining the EU - twice. :hmph:

Norwegian oil production is in decline. They're obviously just trying to establish their next valuable export commodity ahead of the curve. Butter.

EDIT: Serves me right for not reading the link. I thought it meant the international market for Norwegian-made butter was going through the roof, not that Norway had a shortage. Duh.

I was going to say the same thing - I can buy the stuff in 4 pound packages for about $7 at costco. I'll Fed Ex it in a cooled container to Norway, and I'll charge $50 over my cost plus shipping to whoever wants it.

Naturally, the Norwegian government will get in the way and block the transaction, for your safety, but I'm the greedy capitalist, and they're the benevolent defenders of the people...

They love smearing that stuff over everything. Anyone with a Norwegian mother will know that every sandwich must have butter on it...even like a ham and cheese with mustard...it always starts with bread and butter...

How can you have a butter shortage? A milk shortage yes, but a butter shortage? You can make it in about 10 minutes with a blender.

It's probably illegal in Norway to manufacture your own butter. You'll need a license, pay an annual fee, and have your kitchen and blender subject to inspection. Someone might eat improperly prepared butter, after all...

As the 1% use butter for lewd sculptures, the Norwegians are left to spread margarine on their crisp breads.... Image
