Except he neither walks nor quacks like a Marxist. Marxists nationalise privately owned means of production. Obama extends tax cuts to the owners of the means of production.
He's in a very tough position. He wants desperately to be a Marxist and a Progressive, but he's discovered that he miscalculated the tenor of the public towards his "change we can believe in" campaign message. He's discovered to his dismay that the presidency, while a bully pulpit, does not actually have the unlimited power that he thought it did, and that his plans for America and it's march towards socialism have gone badly awry because of that pesky notion called the Separation of Powers.
He was outed as Marxist early on by people like Glenn Beck and others who actually researched his life and his political leanings, and as a consequence he's had to abandon much of his Marxist agenda and conceal his true beliefs and agenda because he doesn't have the power to bring them to fruition, much to his chagrin.
He's a Marxist, and a Progressive, but he's also a narcissistic pathological liar who likes being President and wants a second term, where, as a lame-duck President, he will turn the screws as much as possible. He has grand plans for his second term, including destroying the 2nd Amendment, which is a Marxist Progressive precursor to the next steps in imposing tyranny.
So he's being pragmatic and realistic and is waffling and flip-flopping in order to get to his second term by lying and being duplicitous and attempting to hoodwink the credulous among the public.

"I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists and punk-rock performance poets." - Barack Obama (Dreams of My Father)
"Political discussions, the kind at Occidental had once seemed so intense and purposeful, came to take on the flavor of the socialist conferences I sometimes attended at Cooper Union" - Barack Obama (Dreams of My Father)
Obama was talking of his college days. He left them behind 30 years ago.
Like hell he did. He signed Obamacare, which was a bald-faced attempt to take central control of one-sixth of the US economy and take a long, long stride towards socialism. If Obamacare withstands Supreme Court scrutiny, it will consolidate a Marxist Progressive principle of absolutely unlimited federal control over the economy and our lives, and it will require an amendment of the Constitution's Commerce Clause powers to rectify.
I went to catholic Sunday school in my youth. Ten years after I left those days behind I was not only no longer a catholic, I was an atheist. People can and do change their fundamental points of view, you know?
True, but irrelevant because Obama hasn't changed his fundamental point of view, he's just concealing it from the voters in an attempt to get elected for a second term, in which he will do everything he can to destroy our Republic and bring on socialism. That's why he must be prevented from being reelected.
