Clarkson is a massive dick, but that's kind of the point of him - he's just making some outrageous comments for a laugh. Better that than the rest of the BBC that tries so absurdly hard never to offend anyone. And especially "The One Show" which is dullness defined - and every day they get some minor celebrity or TV personality to give inane comments on subjects that they have no special knowledge about - what do they expect to happen when they finally get someone with a sense of humour who doesn't care about crossing lines occasionally?
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

Stephen Colbert sounds like a better act. Someone whose over-the-top uber-conservative blowhard persona is a satirical character rather than an exagerration of the real guy.

I used to think he was great - but now I find him (and Top Gear) dull.

It's just too forced - but at least not the US version!!

His "thing" is to be as politically incorrect as it's possible to be, and offend as many people as possible.
