Should we return to a largely agrarian culture?
Should we return to a largely agrarian culture? Can humans give up their fancy toys and hot fads in order to keep the planet from going through something akin to menopause?

Two questions two different answers. So probably and certainly not until they have no option otherwise.

Maybe if you like starvation, as every largely agrarian culture I can think of is a few bad harvests away from a massive famine.Zombie Gawdzilla wrote:Should we return to a largely agrarian culture? A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

I wanna go back to hunting and gathering. I did all the plowing I intend to when I was a kid.

True, and the population level would drop like a rock. But we can't sustain this lifestyle, so what other choice to we have?Tyrannical wrote:Maybe if you like starvation, as every largely agrarian culture I can think of is a few bad harvests away from a massive famine.Zombie Gawdzilla wrote:Should we return to a largely agrarian culture? So, kill six billion or so? We'd just start breeding again.Audley Strange wrote:Drastic population decrease.Zombie Gawdzilla wrote:True, and the population level would drop like a rock. Certainly, but if we bumped off a few billion we could more easily control the future birth rate through mandatory vasectomies after a sperm deposit which is then stored for future possible use.Zombie Gawdzilla wrote:So, kill six billion or so?
