Oooh - the 'popular vote'. That one that doesn't count in the US.
So stop mentioning that Trump received more popular votes in 2020 than in 2016 and start mentioning that he lost the election by 232 Electoral votes to 306.

:hehe: Trump was slightly more popular with Trump voters in 2020 than he was in 2016.

Trump was almost as popular among Trump voters as Biden was among Biden voters!

Hmmm, 306 to 232, that was Trump's margin over Clinton in 2016, before the faithless electors weighed in. What did he say about it?
We had a massive landslide victory, as you know, in the Electoral College. I guess the final numbers are now at 306.
So, with a record popular vote and a 306 to 232 electoral college result, Biden won in a massive landslide. :hehe:

I knew you must have something clouding your outlook.
Are you too dumb to realize that you're the one who keeps bringing up the popular vote when you tell us that more people voted for him in 2020 than 2016?

Another dishonest and/or ignorant and/or delusional post. I mentioned the popular vote, but noted the actual significance of the voting numbers and how they applied in reality to the electoral college vote. Trump won the electoral college by a very thin margin of votes in crucial swing states. Biden won the electoral college by a larger margin of votes in crucial swing states, but still a tiny fraction of the overall votes counted.

Yes, we all know that the popular vote doesn't count in the US electoral system, and that situation is unlikely to change... :bored:

You may not have noticed, but the conversation has moved onto discussing whether this fact (and other issues such as voter suppression and partisan gerrymandering) is indicative of fundamental flaws in US "democracy".

Um, it isn't a democracy. I think some of the states are, while some prefer a different approach.

So when you suggest there are 'fundamental flaws in US "democracy", your scare quotes show that you know it isn't supposed to be one.

I think having 50 different democracies get along requires something of the kind, or you end up with London making decisions about Gawler.

Oh will you stop mindlessly parroting dumb right-wing talking points and just admit that you like the Electoral College because you have taken sides in the US culture war and your side demands that you support the Electoral College.

So far, free speech and free expression seem worth sticking with. I have since way back when that position made me a lefty.

I'd find your platitudes about free speech and free expression slightly more convincing if you didn't keep truncating what other people are saying. :tea:
