
Some people even define atheism as a "rejection" of theism/relgion. By simple definition it needn't be - any more than non-stamp-collecting is a "rejection" of stamp-collecting. Atheism per se is simply a nonbelief in deities. There's no more emotional baggage to the word than that. Not even if you'd like there to be.
ATHEISTS on the other hand, may have all kinds of opinions, worldviews and emotional baggage with respect to theism and religious worldviews. And they won't likely all be the same, considering the only one thing we are certain to have in common is the nonbelief in deities. And that's a separate matter from what atheism is, per se.
