Because in this situation, IT IS AMERICA'S FAULT!!!
Atheists are supposed to reason better than that.
The US has given military aid to Taiwan for decades. And they've actually become increasingly democratic. With our blessings - we just worry about how China reacts to their politics. Ditto South Korea.
How about:
It is Mubarak's fault. Is this a radical thought for you?

Not always, only when it's true. Bet you didn't even watch that link before commenting on it. Simply..."oh, someone says the US is partially responsible for what is happening...must be bullshit because america fucking rules!"
Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.

What do people expect!? This is the way strategic politics works! America looks after its interests just as every country does. As an aside I suspect Egypt has done rather well out of the deal compared to how they would have fared if left to their own devices. And to assume that somehow it would be fairer, better, more democratic or just for its people if it had been left to its own devices is simply idealistic poop.
America does support Israel. So what? It has policies in place to do that. These policies arguably have prevented war at least for the last 30 years, now matter how much of a weeping sore that part of the world has become.

Yes I did watch it, and frankly I found it to be biased and dumb. And for the record (since you two can't seem to understand this)
I agree that the US is partially responsible. So are more than a few other countries, btw, but of course the forum's Step and Fetch always babble about the evil Americans.
Does your last sentence there really sound like me? If you think so, you might want to read my posts more carefully. You're a Grand Master at reading things that are not there. I have quite a few criticisms of the US, thanks very much - sometimes I even write about them.

The US has given military "aid" to Israel for decades. And they've actually become increasingly racist. Ian, your point is?
Mubarak would have been overthrown long ago if it were not for the American "aid" that he keeps for himself and shares with his cronies. It is America's fault.

If we're saying that the protests are Mubarak's fault, I do have to point out that much of the domestic opposition to him is based on his making peace with Israel and cooperating with the U.S., so there is U.S. participation there. I see you recognize that from your later post, though.
Government corruption also plays a part, though the sources I've found only place Egypt slightly worse than average in that respect. Mubarak's socialist economic policies that result in an underperforming economy probably play a bigger part.

For just as long, the US has enabled the racist policies of Israel and the oppression of Arabs. War would have been better.

Can you fit something about Israel in there? Too out of context?

Saying war would have been better is possible one of the most despicable things I have ever seen written.

As he is a coptic christian and she a western career woman I fucking fail to see how a more moslem government will benefit them. As it is the murders and rapes and beatings that are not investigated properly because of the muslem majority in Egypt are worrying enough .
So Yes I DO FUCKING WELL HOPE THE COUNTRY DOES NOT BECOME MORE MUSLEM DOMINATED !

Coming from the the same guy who said "What do people expect!? This is the way strategic politics works! America looks after its interests just as every country does." That statement pretty much defends everything every country has ever done, including war. You're just saying, "Don't criticize any foreign policy decisions, they are simply looking out for their best interests and fuck anyone who gets in their way."
Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.
