it's about stopping confrontation before there is any violence or threat of violence.

Used properly, Overwhelming Force results in less violence.

I do know the difference between a jury made up of folk like yourself and the loony community you grew up in. A jury of nut jobs does not = justice in my book.

Somehow I doubt you do know what you think you know. And if the Prosecutor, Judge, or Defense thought any of them was a "nut job," they wouldn't be on the jury. That's what Voir Dire is for. You just don't agree with the verdict, so all you can do is bash the people who actually had to make the decision in your abysmal ignorance of the facts of the case.

You might feel differently when it's a jury of your peers who CONVICT you for defending yourself against a mugger because you had the temerity to resist and actually INJURE the poor benighted bugger who was just trying to make a buck.

No, it's overwhelming force. Something like sixty percent of all defensive gun uses (DGU) in the US are nothing more than the display of overwhelming force at the beginning of an assault that stops the crime instantly and causes the criminal to run away.

That's the point. That, and deterrence through the threat of the use of overwhelming force by an armed victim. Concealed carry is about threatening ALL criminals with overwhelming force using the "shell game" method to conceal which of the victims the criminal might choose might be armed and prepared to shoot him dead on the spot.

Works, too. Really, really well. Violent crime rates in places where concealed carry is lawful drop by an initial 8 to 15%.

Criminals are cowards, you see. They want your wallet, they don't want to get killed getting it.
