Well, she's not a stick figure like Keira Knightley.

That was Robin Gardiner's highly entertaining theory, but unfortunately it's a complete load of bollocks, and here's why:

The theory goes that while the Titanic, and her allegedly fatally damaged sister Olympic were together in Belfast in March 1912, the identities of each ship were swapped - names changed, life belts, crockery etc - to prepare for an insurance scam which would involve claiming on the uninsurable Olympic.

However, at that time 14,000 Devoguey Belfast men were working on the ships, and 13967 of them liked a pint. Do you think they would have kept such a silly little secret?

No they would have "diverted" most of the ships contents in the swap and sold it latter as souvenirs.

Dev do you have some figures on valuables still un accounted for on the titanic? Could we have a Titanic meet-up? We'd need a dinghy, some hose pipe for underwater breathing, sandwiches....

It's common within Titanic circles to claim that there is nothing of value like gold or jewellery on the ship.

However, following the disaster, Mrs Drake-Cardeza (the real life occupant of one of the two "Millionaire" suites with private promenade as occupied by Billy Zane in Titanic) filed an insurance claim for almost $150,000 (1912 dollars) for lost jewellery, including a $20,000 necklace. Some of the items were retrieved in 1987, but the vast bulk are presumably still on the ship - almost $4 million in today's money.

In 1898, fourteen years before the Titanic disaster, an author named Morgan Robertson wrote a short story called "Futility".

It was about a ship, 800 feet long, 75,000 tons (the Titanic was 882 feet long, displacing 66,000 tonnes) which was the biggest in the world and was considered to be unsinkable.

It had three propellers and two masts (the same as the Titanic), it left on its maiden voyage (same as the Titanic) from Southampton (same as the Titanic) in April (same as the Titanic).

Morgan's ship carried 24 lifeboats, "...as few as the law allowed", for her 3,000 passenger capacity (the Titanic carried 20 for 3,000 under BoT regulations).

While travelling too fast (25 knots), Morgan's ship hit an iceberg 400 miles from Newfoundland (the Titanic, travelling at 22.5 knots hit an iceberg...400 miles from Newfoundland).

Morgan's ship sank, killing more than half her 2,500 passengers. The Titanic sank, killing more than half of her 2,200 passengers.

The name of Morgan's ship?

The Titan.
