I've been using them continuously for years (over a decade?) for official records. Only had one that leaked around the roller ball a little bit. I have not, however, ever subjected one to explosions. Pressurized chamber behind the ink means it writes first time, every time, any orientation (even during the 5 minutes of weightless). Plus the ink is indelible/permanent.

I nearly didn't. Flail chest as one result. My pen was bent at a 45 degree angle. Other than that one incident, however, I never had any trouble with them. It probably broke one of my ribs. They pulled a few items out of me that I didn't care to have identified.
